Monthly Not so nice Friend Visits

Recommended Posts

Ok I have a question for you. I am told many people when they lose alot of weight like I did, your cycles get normal. BUT has anyones cycle become totally erratic?

My not so nice friend who visited me on a regular basis before I lost the weight, which was like clock work once a month, every 28 days. NOW that I have lost a ton of weight I am getting my friggin period every week to 2 weeks. I know that the estrogen levels are off when you lose the weight but does it take forever to get back to normal?

Not only am I hating it, my husband is about to kill me because it doesn't make for a good personal life.

Please tell me that this will get better or should I take so estrogen Vitamins from the drug store?

i am having the same problem and i didnt lose that much yet, i have only lost maybe 27 lbs and my periods are all out of wack. i am on the pill, and it comes a week before its suposed to and then when i take the pills that are suposed to give me my period, i then have it for 7 days.

so its like i have my period for 2 weeks, the first time it happend i called my gyno he told me that it was because my diet was changing and i was looseing weight quickly and that it was normal but i dont know if its suposed to happen every time i loose a few lbs. its pretty scary. (to me anyway)

Totally out of wack, but in the opposite direction for me. I used to be every 5 weeks like clockwork. In April I just skipped a month and it happened again in July. I am 45, so I went to my gyn to check and she drew blood to check my hormone levels which are totally normal, and I am nowhere near menopause. The only thing that I can chalk it up to is the weight loss - Both my kids are teenagers - so it scares me when it doesn't come!

i was having extremely heavy periods when i was losing weight. I have now been at same weight for a few months and i just had a wonderfully light period! Was so nice for a change!...i think my body is finally starting to settle a bit after a year of losing weight. although just had some more fill in cos i broke my ribs and couldnt exercise and have now started losing weight again....we shall see if losing weight again triggers the heavy periods. :blushing:

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
