Restriction question....do I need more?

Recommended Posts

I had my first fill a week ago and the only difference I feel is if I eat too fast, I get pain in my chest and throat. Other than that I really don't feel much different. I'm trying to slow down when I eat. I got 4cc at the fill.

Should I call for more?

Usually it will take more than one fill to reach restriction. I just returned from my thirs and I can feel the tightness. I wait two weeks between fills to see if there is any change. Try not to rush it.

Some docs make you wait 4 weeks in between fills. Mine definitely does because for some odd reason, I don't feel the full effect of my fills for 2 weeks after (yeah, I'm weird LOL).

Your portion sizes aren't smaller? Are you sure you're not feeling that pain because you're close to being full? How long are your meals lasting? Some confuse restriction with tightness and feeling that pain when eating too fast with being satisfied for about 3 hours in between meals.

My doc asks how long it is before I'm hungry again after a meal and if I'm eating more than 6-8 ounces of food and that's how he gauges.

I'm not sure if I helped any, but I'd wait to let it settle in for another week or two rather than going in to ask for more and then being too tight. That is such a miserable thing and I'd rather be too loose given the problems that come with being too tight.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks everyone for your replys! I think I'll give it another week or so. I'm not scheduled for another fill until the middle of Sept but if I don't feel like this is working, I'll go back before then.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
