Ughhh will this bloated feeling ever go away?!

Recommended Posts

I was banded on July 9th. I am currently on the pureed stage of foods. But I have felt bloated, gassy and uncomfortable ever since my surgery. I have tried gas x which helped slightly. My husband says my belly looks even bigger than before the surgery. Just wondering if this is normal and will I ever feel comfortable again?:cursing::wub:

I was banded on 7/8 and had the same problem with bloating. I actually looked like the Michelin Man for the first week or so. I looked like I was wearing a tire around my upper stomach. I started taking Gas X and it has helped. But, exercise and lots of walking has helped me more than anything. I walk at least a mile a day and work out at the gym at least 3 days a week. My bloating has really went down but, I still have bad days where it swells up. Good luck with your journey and hope your bloating gets better!

I was banded on July 7th and I still have issues with bloating. Walking does help ALOT and just staying active. I notice alot of gas when I am sitting at work all day, but other than that it has gone away alot. Just try to get up and move around a good bit and it should start to get better. I hope this helps!!!

thanks everyone! I am going to try walking more, even at work. Because at my job, I sit all day. If anyone is interested in being my buddy since you were banded at the same time...please let me know!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
