Microwave eggs?

Recommended Posts

Since I'm not much of a morning person, I tend to eat Breakfast once I get to work, and oatmeal and Protein Drinks are getting a little boring! I've seen this little plastic device at the grocery store that essentially lets you make an omelette in the microwave, but eggs are one of the things that I'm a little leery of zapping. Has anyone tried this, or microwaving eggs in general?

rinse a tea-cup out with cold Water, don't dry it, break an egg in to it and prick the yolk. Cover & microwave for around 30 seconds (depending on egg size and microwave power) for a quick, easy and mess free poached egg.

you can also make mini baked omlets in a muffin tin at home. Bake them in the oven if you have a 6 muffin tin and only want to make 4 just fill the empty ones with Water. Then just microwave at work!! I make mine with lost of vegges its always something different!

Sure do microwave eggs and egg beaters. I put mine in a mugg with a squirt of milk, pepper and zap for 40 seconds, take out, stir, and zap again. Quick and easy. If you are worried about the salmonella...don't be. Salmonella is found on the egg shell, not inside the egg. So, if you wash up after cracking you should have no problems.

I've zapped eggs before in a hurry, and make them for my son often when I don't feel like busting out pans, etc. Not bad at all, you'll be surprised I bet once you try it. They come out really fluffy too. Lol

Yes, I do this quite often for my toddler daughter. Get a plastic bowl (tuperware or whatever), spray with Pam. Add the egg, scramble, add just a touch of milk, scramble and microwave for 1 minute. Wa la, perfect! If you make two eggs, it is slightly longer in the microwave.

If you add too much milk, it will be runny. Just a touch of milk...

Good luck. Let me know who it turns out.

I do mine on the stove. It really doesn't take long. It only takes a couple of minutes for scrambled eggs. Lately, I've been eating an whole wheat english muffin with microwave turkey bacon, cheese, and one egg white. It takes maybe 5 minutes to make. I toast the heck out of the english muffin so it won't get stuck.

Yep, I use the microwave for eggs !

I put 2 small eggs, some rock salt & 45g of cottage cheese. I scramble them, 2 min in microwave stirring every 20 secs until they are cooked but still soft

:smile2:

Love 'em!

Rach.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
