Yes, it really is amazing how many diff stories you will read on here. I am supposed to stay on liquids for 14 days and then start on soft foods for 14-21 days. Is everyone else instructed to do the same number of days? Just curious if diff doctors are doing the same...

I am new to this site. I found the tickers, but don't know how to add them to your profile where they show when you email or reply. Can someone let me know how to do this? Thanks...

I still can't do scrambled eggs and i'm almost 9 months out. Mashed potatoes I can do in small quantities. But and alternitive I liked during mushiesis cooked carrots in chicken broth, then mash them like potatoes. That's still one of my favorites. I just take baby carrots-sometimes i cut them up sometimes i don"t- and boil them in Water and chicken bullion like i'm making chicken Soup. :rolleyes2:

I only did egg whites by themself and if I had yolk I add a little low fat mayo to moisten them up.sort of an egg salad.< /p>

Instant mashed potatoes have come a long way also..I tried loaded mashed potatoes, garlic, and cheddar and chives they are very inexpensive and easy to make single portions.

I only had to do liquids for a week. Then it was pureed. for 2 weeks, now I'm ground/chopped. Yes it is funny how different surgeons and/or dietitians formulate the post op eating.

I think it's Betty Crocker who has a brand that only has I think 80cal in 2/3 cup. There are a few different flavors, but the loaded is my fave . Granted, I don't eat the whole 2/3's nor do I eat them on a regular basis, but they are yummy when I want something quick, easy, and potatoey (is that a word??? lol)

Surprised to see no one mentioned 'Egg Beaters". I find it is almost impossible to scramble them dry, but my wife is really good at cooking and tossing about a 1 teaspoon of skim milk in right at the right time and they come out fluffy and wonderful.

Also the new instant mash is wonderful as well

Hmm..let's see. My dr does count scrambled eggs and mashed potatoes as a puree/mushie. He also counts baked white fish (cod, tilapia, orange roughy) as one as well. Putting chicken, gravy/broth, and mashed potatoes into a blender looks really gross, but tastes pretty good! As for a Pasta type dish, try making a lasagna filling (ricotta, seasonings, etc.) and covering it with sauce and a little mozzeralla and bake it. Just no noodles. Here is a blog I have found that has alot of recipes (even homemade Protein ice cream) and I know there is a section on purees there along with a recipe for the lasagna type thing I mentioned. theworldaccordingtoeggface: pureed Foods I have it set to take you right to the purees! Hope this helps

May I get your recipe for homemade protein ice cream? I loved your recipes on the link above!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
