Getting banded Aug 18th

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I've not said much around here but have lurked for a while. I have set my surgery date of August 18th and I'm feeling pretty good about it so far. I was a little nervous at first but now feeling better. My big question though is did anyone else feel like they wanted to eat everything in sight and mind when they found out they were having surgery? The nutrition classes have just made me "hungry" and crave things that I shouldn't. I start the pre-op diet next Monday and I've started trying different shakes and easy crock-pot style meals. Any tips???:scared2:

I ate a lot of stuff right before starting my diet but once it came time to start my diet I was at peace with it. It doesn't bother me that I can't eat and it doesn't bother me that I may have to give up some of my favorite foods. I just want to be healthy again.

As for shakes Syntrax nectar makes a chocolate Truffle and Cappucino Latte that I could live off of! In fact I'm sulking today b/c I ordered a container of each and it won't be here until Wednesday. Now I'm stuck with yucky shakes until then:(

I will probably not be having my surgery until around December because I have to do the 6 month nutrition appointments. But i can imagine I would be pigging out right before i started the liquid diet! It sort feels like your "last meal".. haha

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
