Anniversaries and weightloss ?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. I was just wondering. Most of the posts I read make reference to their weightloss in relation to their surgery date. However most people say they didn't really lose much until they got to the "sweet spot" with their fills. So for example if someone loses 100lbs in 1 year (which is awesome) is it really like 10 months since most drs don't fill until 6 weeks then it takes a few to get restriction?

Just a thought. Not sure. I am just thinking it is awesome all the great results you all that are ahead of me have had.

Jessica

Hi! I know what you mean. I felt sort of like a failure because my surgery was 7/3/09 but I didn't get to my "sweet spot" until 4/15/10. Consequently, I'm more than 1 year post-op and I've only lost 32 pounds. However, we do really need to realize that until we achieve good restriction, our bands don't really help us much. We also have to know that we have to WORK at this - it's not a quick-fix. The band won't do this all by itself! I'm very proud of my weight loss and proud that I'm living a MUCH healthier lifestyle than I did a year ago. I'll get there (hoping for a total loss of 100 pounds) in my own time. Good luck! :scared2:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
