Dietician Evaluation tomorrow and I have a question...

Recommended Posts

Can you tell me what happens during this? Is there something they are looking for or is it just a talk about what you need to do or what? Evaluation sounds like examination to me...am I supposed to pass with a C or better :scared2:

At mine they asked me questions such as how long I had been over weight, what diets I had tried, if I exercised, what medical problems I had. Then they went over the pre op diet and the post op diet and eating changes.

Mine was simple:) It took 40 minutes and cost $125! I really thought it was overpriced.

It's not an examination or test.

They will simply inform you how to eat and what changes will be required after banding.

Mine were all done in a group setting. There was never any question about what diets I have tried. Those questions came from my surgeon at my initial consultation.

So get this...I go to this thing and it is a group discussion about what will happen before, during and after surgery. Also and little information about what to eat and so forth for two weeks prior (I start that tomorrow) and FOUR weeks after. Wow. So I have six weeks of liquids starting tomorrow. Then I was shuffled off for my labs and EKG which all came out great. Needless to say, I went out and found the best bottle of wine I could for tonight along with my favorite salsa, chips and assorted appetizer favorites and munched out. Top it off with chocolate honeycomb and I am on my way to drinking three shakes a day for the next SIX, count em, SIX weeks!

Honestly though, I am so happy to be doing this! The lady who did my EKG at the end of today told me about her own WLS and she was as thin as a toothpick and seemed so happy to be working with me. She promised to come visit me on the 11th if she was on duty that day! Things are looking up!:cursing:

Wow, 6 weeks seems like a long time but if you think about it, it is a relatively short time considering you are at least 2,184 weeks old and hopefully have another 2,500 ahead of you.

You can do it. It's very easy if you keep a positive attitude and your eye on the end result.

Good luck!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
