Looking for September 2010 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Hi there papoose, this is an older thread- I haven't been on this one in years, most of us shifted to a post surgery thread, and really there are very few of us on there very often. I love talking to folks having success. I have had success but not as much as you. you are rocking. I am stuck right now at 217. but that is over 70 lbs from where I started so I am very happy. I recently in march had a fill and 2 weeks out I got this terrible heartburn and was spitting up at night, I was even snoring again- I had a cold- anyway I got a cc taken out. I always wonder if I should have waited longer. the weight was rolling off because I coudln't eat anything. which seemed unhealthy- and it all came back in like a week after the unfill. I didn't go above where I was, but I'm still there. Now I've put .5 cc back in and trying to decide if I will try for more. I m where I was when I got the .5 fill - and I feel like I agitated my band, not that I was necessarily too tight. I don't know. hearing your story makes me wish I would have toughed it out a little more. Anyway you are doing great - it's wonderfful to make contact.

Hi Lisa A - why don't you do fluids for a few days and that will get your stomach settle down. When I was having my hard time. I stuck to liquids and soft foods until I could eat normal foods. The last few weeks I have been doing good with my eating. I am fine if I don't lose another pound. Since losing this weight my thyroid has become hyper - so I guess that is helping me to lose weight also. Good luck to you. I always read the post operations forum also.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
