I also enjoy this site, and getting nervous for 8/16 surgery date. Esp when I read about the gas pain.

Anyone going in to surgery, really think about taking a small pillow with you to hold against your stomach when you get up. I had this: Amazon.com: Homedics OT-TRVL Ortho + Therapy Memory Foam Travel Pillow with Carry Case, 15" x 11" x 4.5": Health &…

and it was very helpful and continues to be (I was banded on the 27th)

Thanks Tracy, I just ordered one.

It looks really good and I like that it has a carrying case.

My hospital gave me a pillow before I had the surgery. I also got one at a different hospital when I had surgery on my abdomen. I would just inquire within the hospital instead of having to pay for it yourself. Seems like a fair trade, $16,000 for 1 pillow.

Good for you!! No sarcasm, really.

I'm in NY the only thing I will get free will be the bill :(

Sad but true!!

This will be my travel pillow.

If I by some small chance I get one at the hospital that will be my hubby's travel pillow.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
