Small Slipage so dr took out all my fluid

Recommended Posts

Hey,

I had my lapband in June of 09. Everything was going great and I have lost 80lbs and have reached my goal. I had to go back to the dr last week b/c I started throwing up. He x-rayed me and said there was a very minor slipage. He took all my Fluid out (6cc) and told me that the band would slip back into place and I am to come back in 6 weeks and he will start putting fluid back in. He also said that since I am at my goal he probably will not have to put in but half of what he took out. I am TERRIFIED of gaining a lot of weight over the next few weeks. Has this happened to anyone else and how much did you gain when the fluid was taken out?

Sorry to hear you had trouble. Congrats on getting to goal! I would do 2 things. One is beef up your excersise. Also, focus on eating the right things, even if portions are a little bigger than when you have restriction. You can do it! Just remember how hard it was to get those last few pounds off. You don't want to go there again.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
