Pain on my leftside right below rib cage.

Recommended Posts

I need help. I'm 4 months post op. Just recently I started getting a dull pain under my rib cage on the left side. It comes and goes but I feel it more when I yawn or take deep breathes. Has anyone experienced this?

In the summer it is usually a sign of dehydration.

It could be a slight case of pneumonia or a URI.

I'm not a doctor but speak from experience.

I've been getting that too. I have been wondering what it was.

I'm 4.5 months out and I sometimes get that pain as well. Usually if I've been sitting awkwardly or sometimes I just get it. I assume it's associated with the port/tubing/band.

I massage the area with my fingers or palm of my hand and it seems to help it go away.

Hey,

I get that same exact pain off and on. Especially when I yawn or breath deeply. It often hurts to sleep on my left side too. My only guess is that it has something to do with my band/port??? Let me know if you figure it out.

I get it too. Pretty much every time I eat. I can rub it away sometimes but it is uncomfortable. Right now I think my band is too tight. I got a fill last Tuesday and started eating "real" food on Friday. I have been in pain with every meal this weekend. It feels like there is something stuck in my esophagus. I can't eat anything and I am starving. I'm calling tomorrow to get some liquid out. This is bad.

I feel like when that happens it is the port and the stitching into my muscles because it is sewn there under the muscle... however last night I had a sharp pain cuz I did over eat.

I am 10 days post-op and starting having same pain on left side under rib three days ago. It is a constant pain, but worse after I eat. Talked to nurse today and she said is commonly due from Constipation and suggested Milk of Magnesia. It helped within a few hours and relieved the pain tonight.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
