Great! I'm also a teacher but have retired now - you never want to stop teaching though so am doing other kinds. I'm battling with the liquids only but went on UTube and watched a banding op. Did me a lot of good as it showed how much my poor stomach has gone through. Determined to really keep to the right measured amounts! I've been a little casual about the 2hr stretch between meals. Hope you're cruising along happily!!

Thank goodness i am not alone I was banded on 9-21 and I am on the full liquids and I was told it is higher cal foods but when stepped on the scale and gained 2 lbs I was so bummed. I was not going to ask my doc if it was normal just in case it is not and have him think i was eatting the wrong things witch i have not been.

I was banded on 9/2/10. I haven't had a fill yet since my band was so tight after surgery. I'm schedule to see Dr. again on 10/11 and he will consider fill at that time. I have lost 31 lbs so far and have not gained any yet. I'm hoping I will continue to lose at a steady rate. Keep up the good work.

Hi, I am finally banded! I had my surgery today at 1:00. I was scheduled for 10:30 but got delayed. Waiting was the hardest part! I was in recovery by 2:30 and awake shortly after that. I felt really good and was able to get up and walk around really quickly. I could drink and pee and was dressed and waiting for my ride by 5:30. I am really pretty comfortable, just a little achy in my stomach. I am pleasantly surprised! I am so glad to be on the other side! Thanks for all the well wishes!

Christine

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
