I was banded on July 23rd and today I am starting full liquids. I would like some Protein suggests to help get me through this. I have been using the Protein Shakes pre-banding but I really dislike the taste of them. Is there something out there that is unflavored that can be added to anything that I can buy locally (i.e. GNC, health food stores, etc)?

www.unjury.com has a really good unflavored Protein powder that is reasonably priced. Just be careful that you don't put it into liquids over 130 degrees. You can add it to Decaf coffee, or a Protein smoothie, or Soup whatever to bump the Protein. I think one scoop is like 20-25 grams of protein. Their website says that you can add it to Jello and pudding. I've tried the pudding and I think that it leaves an after taste that I don't care for. But I've not tried it in the Jello yet. I had added the chocolate mix to hot chocolate and the unflavored to my coffee and I can't taste it.

Also, don't forget that you can add dry/powdered milk and bump a soup's value by 8 grams of protein too. Or throw some shredded cheese in a Soup and let it melt. Or I've added the canned chicken breast to soup and then taken my "stick" blender to the soup to make sure it was all blended for the liquid. You can get soup bumped up to about 25 grams of protein pretty quickly that way.

Good luck and hope these suggestions helped.

Here is my favorite thing and it has no protein taste. 1 packet of carnation instant Breakfast (sugar Free) and 1 cup of ice and 2 tbsp of Peanut Butter. Add a splash of milk and blend. It tastes great, and is satisfying..

My hubby realized that I was getting sick of the Protein Shakes and made me a Protein Soup. Just alot of Beans and veggies with a little chicken stock or veggie stock (maybe a ham piece for flavor) and then blended it all into a thin soup with no chunks. I loved that soup... it was a great break from the shakes.< /p>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
