changing my thinking..trying to!

Hi all, I just got banded last Tuesday! Dr David Kim in Colleyville, Texas did it, and yes, I'd recommend him! I had to be on a 3 week liquid diet beforehand on Bariatric Advantage (chocolate then vanilla-liked vanilla better) since I'm lactose intolerant couldn't use the Optifast brand. Yes, it was torture sometimes, especially at night when I just wanted to eat a normal supper and not...slop.

But now I have about one more week of liquid diet to go and thankfully it's normal food! I had a fruit smoothie this morning and while it wasn't chocolate Cheerios :bolt: , it tasted pretty good!

I'm starving for just a slice of pizza, but that'll come eventually.

I started at 290 before my liquid diet and weighed 269 the day of my surgery.

Congrats! Sounds like you're off to a great start! I haven't been banded yet, so I can't offer much advice. Keep up the great work... I'm looking forward to seeing your before and after shots!! :bolt:

I was banded 3-12 and found that the majority of my weight loss came from the pre surgery diet I was on. Now my problem is that I need to get myself to be disciplined enough to eat right ALL the time, and then maybe I will start losing weight again..

I just read about your weight loss for the surgery and can definitely relate. I was so excited I weighed myself constantly. Would love to get back to that

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
