barbs47 0 Posted July 25, 2010 I have just started the process. Have had Dr. consult, psych eval and 1st meeting w/dietician. I am a self pay. I was wondering how people make it thru the pre op diet? I have been told my Dr. has people go on all liquid for 2-3 weeks. I feel like if I can do that, I should have been able to lose this weight before. I am really scared about that pre op diet!! Also, I am type II diabetes, what goes on with your sugars right after the surgery? Thanks for any info.
zeniada 9 Posted July 25, 2010 hello i felt and feel the same way... my doc wants me to do a low carb diet 2 weeks prior to my surgery date and i know that for 2 weeks i will be able to follow it the problem is that i also know that i will only be able to last about that long. as with other diets i would be able to follow them for a little bit but then start to slip and cheat... that's why i want the lap band i feel that it will help me stay on tract because i wont be able to cheat i wont be able to over eat cuz if i do well then i'll just be sick and whats the point of that, also my diet is not a liquid one it is a low carb liver shrinking diet. Good luck to you and your journey :smile2:
CarolWA 0 Posted July 25, 2010 The pre op is a little difficult for everyone. But after about 4 days, you will be amazed that it isn't as difficult as you thought it would be. Your body really does adjust. I'm betting you can do it. I had to do almost a month of liquids because I had to postpone my surgery and I wanted the Dr to let me know if there was a canecllation, so I had to keep up with the liquids. Please don't stress too much about that pre op, we all got through it, and like I said, after 4 days, it's not that bad. Good luck on your journey.
