Next week at this time I will be banded!!! Everyday I feel or see something that reminds me of why I am having this surgery I guess you could say my "A HA!" or "Wakeup" moments. Today I was at outback steakhouse with my son and husband and we had a gift card so I figured we might as well use it cause I wont be able to use it in a while, anyway, after squeezing into the booth I just could not stop sweating!! I know its been 100 degrees out lately but no one else appeared to be sweating...than like I usually do I dropped food on my white shirt. I was thinking that the reason I keep dropping food is not because I am simply a messy eater but for one I eat too fast and done take the time take small portions on my fork and rush it in my mouth and two Im squeezed into a booth and cannot lean forward enough because of my stomach stops me...This was yet another Wakeup moment.. yesterday at this time I was freakin out because I heard about someone's bad lapband experience and today I dont care about the negative I need to stay positive...for those of you have are thinking, or in the process of being banded or have been banded I started a blog to track my honest and personal thoughts and feelings..I want people to know they are not alone in the journey....http://nikkijourney.blogspot.com/:smile2:

I have been there and done those things. Very depressing!

Now after being banded and losing some of my weight, I am not suffering from the heat nearly as much. In fact my husband has always been the "cool one" and now I am the one putting on a sweater - really a new experience for me.

I now fit in booths. I can lean into my plate and not spill on myself. It is amazing.

As for not being able to go out to eat, yes you can still go out to eat! You will have a post op time when you are doing special foods so restaurants are hard. But after that you can go out. You will never eat as much as you did in the past. You will select leaner, healthier, lower calorie foods when you go out. You will allow yourself occassional treats, but not as often and not as big of portions. To my surprise, I am finding going out to eat just as enjoyable as it ever was, I just don't feel as guilty afterwards!

Keep that positive attitude and you will do great with your band. It is a wonderful tool and has helped me inprove my life and my health so much.

I love my band! :smile2:

I'm so with you! It's 100 degrees here to but I'm the only one sweating like a faucet. I'll be so glad to get this weight off.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
