I had my 3rd fill yesterday. 8 cc total in a 15cc band. I am pretty restricted, but I am able to have liquids, but I can feel them going slower than before. I am sure that I have some swelling. But, how long does it last after a fill? My first two fills did not restrict me at all. Nor did I notice any swelling.

Takes maybe a week for the swelling to go down. Just keep an eye on it. Your ok if you are able to keep things down and it's not too painful. If you start bringing stuff back up, or it gets too painful, you might want to go back and have a tiny bit taken out. Many don't start noticing restriction for at least the 3-4 fills. Welcome to restriction. :) You should notice that you are able to stay full longer between meals now and you probably won't be able to eat as much as you were before the restriction. Maybe you have found the 'sweet spot'.

I am having somewhat the same experience. I had my 3rd fill yesterday and it was more painful and swollen than the previous 2 fills. Also, I was still recovering from some jet lag (unsure if that matters). I really can't tell much about the restriction yet. I had my fill at 10:00 am and was able to eat Soup and salad at about 3:30pm. My daughter and I walked a lot that day shopping at various centers (my dr. is 2 hours away). I ate graham crackers at about 7:30pm and a chicken breast at 9:30pm. I went to bed at 12:30am and felt really full. I have not eaten or drank anything yet today (1:00pm) but I am getting a little hungry. I hope that the restriction will set in soon. I hope the 3rd fill is the charm, if not, I will be ready for the 4th fill on August 30th. I hope you do well. Keep us posted.

WOW...I am jealous!! I just had my first fill yesterday (4.5 cc) and I have to start my 4 phases of food all over:scared2:...5 days for each phase, starting with Clear Liquids, then full liquids, puree, soft and then back to solids....20 days til I can eat again....UGGGGHHHH!!! But I will probably lose another 20# or so within that time.....I hope!!:smile2:

I have noticed on this site that most people are told to drink Water at their dr. office when they get fills. I have never been told to drink water while there. I have not been able to feel water trickling down since a couple weeks after surgery. Also, most people talk about starting all over with the phases after a fill. I was told 2 days of liquids and 1-2 days of soft food then full solids. Therefore, solids can be eaten 3 days after a fill. It is amazing how doctors tell patents very different things.

I felt swollen after my first fill--4 days ago. I got 6cc in a 14cc band. I was swollen for 2 days. I was told liquids for 24 hours, mushies for 24, then solids after that. I feel less hungry in between meals ( was VERY hungry prior to fill) and am eating less. Don't think I'm at the sweet spot just yet but I'm happier than before!

My doctor makes me drink a tiny glass of water before I leave the office after my fill. I am also to drink liquids for 24 hours after the fill and then I can go back on solids the following day. You are correct. ALL doctors are different. That's why it's so important to listen to the specific orders of your doctor.

I definetly have restriction. I now know why I have been practicing chewing and eating slow. It has been a tough weekend for eating. I am feeling better than I did the other day. According to my home scale, I lost 3.5 more lbs over the weekend. This might be "Lap Band Heaven"!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
