craigmorganfan 0 Posted July 24, 2010 Hi,,,I am 2 days post op,,,surgery went great,,,overall I feel fine,,,just still very sore in my shoulders and back...don't know if that is due to the surgery or my sleeping positions and from me putting so much pressure on them to stand up after I've been sitting....I was wondering if anyone out there had their surgery on or around my same day.....today I'm going to start drinking some Protein SHAKES!! Horrayyyy....something other than chicken broth and jello...LOL....Anyway,,,,I'd love to hear stories from everyone....hope to hear from you all soon! 2beskinny 4 Posted July 24, 2010 Congrats! I had my surgery on 7/19...everyday keeps getting better! There are a couple of threads on here with your surgery date (or close to it)...I would advise reading and posting to them - good stuff!
RobynB1989 0 Posted July 24, 2010 I had my surgery on the 21st. I am still in a good amount of pain, but that was because they had to repair a massive hiatial hernia. It is getting better every day though. As for food, I have been drinking a lot og chicken broth, either with protien or Fiber mixed in. I have also been drinking a ton of crystal light and Water. Congratulations on being banded, and let me know how you are doing!
breathingez4u 0 Posted July 24, 2010 Congrats on your success so far. As for the pain in the shoulders it is from the anethesia for they fill your stomach with "gas" and it sometimes takes awhile for that to dissipitate, its where the "pain" settles in some people post op. I am scheduled for Tuesday, July 27th but am nervously anxious!
craigmorganfan 0 Posted July 24, 2010 Thank you all for the replies...today I am starting to get my Protein in again by drinking an orange/protein drink that they sold in the office of the weight loss center....my question is,,is it too early to start eating yogurt? Some of my information out of the tons of information that I received kind of goes back and forth....some say that i can have yogurt now,,and some says to wait a while....since I just had surgery on Thursday,,my main focus is my 64oz of Water and getting my protein in,,starting today.... jaymeeo 0 Posted July 24, 2010 Yea for the 22nd. That is when I had my surgery too and it was my birthday. The best present I think I could have given myself. My Dr. gave my a thinner yogurt for Breakfast second day post op. I live in Germany and they like to keep you in the hospital as long as possible. So nothing was wrong just over cautious doctors my surgery went perfectly and they fixed a small heiatal hernia I didn't know I had. I am drinking Protein Shakes and sipping Water.< /p>
craigmorganfan 0 Posted July 24, 2010 Did the yogurt make you feel sick,,or did you do okay with it?
jaymeeo 0 Posted July 24, 2010 I felt great. It was nice to have something cool to eat. Rather refreshing. I had it first thing in the morning.
craigmorganfan 0 Posted July 24, 2010 Do you know what kind you are eating? Does it need to be low carb, low fat, or just regular yogurt?
jaymeeo 0 Posted July 24, 2010 it was a german yogurt and they tend to be almost no sugar. But I am sure it was a full fat as that is the way they do things around here. It had a slight puree of strawberry in it.

I have been eating yogurt, cream of wheat, broth and i tried pudding. I am kinda tired of the sweet stuff now and over just the beef and chicken broth LOL Do you still feel some discomfort in your tummy from the surgery? Kelley1380 0 Posted July 24, 2010 I was banded on July 7th and I had alot of discomfort between my shoulder blades as well. It does get better and I still am a littel tender around the incision spots, but other than that I feel good physically. I am having a little bit of issues emotionally, but that just goes hand in hand with my obsession with food.< /p>
muddieguryl 0 Posted July 24, 2010 My band was installed on 7/21. I was in and out in a flash. Lots of intra-abdominal gas from the surgery which of course got stuck in my shoulder. Most of the gas is gone today, 4 days out. I am able to flip and roll myself in bed, get in and out of bed, sit down and stand up just fine. Not a lot on incision site pain. Still to chicken to put down on my jelly belly and find my port site. I haven't felt hungry yet which is a blessing. I am taking in 75 grams of Protein a day but having a hard time getting in some Water. I was a big, big Water drinker before the surgery. I am fortunate to get in 64 ounces a day now. No more clear urine for me! Best wishes to all!
