:frown:I was banded 7/2/2010. Things had been going great, Ive lost 22 pounds and feeling good. I blew it tonight, I am soooo mad and disappointed with myself. I completely LOST control and started eating everything in sight. I ate mac a roni and cheese. / I ate half of a cheeseburger patty / then even though i felt full, I ate 2 bites of a polish dog and bun. I dont think i have hardly any restriction ( althoughim not even sure I know what restriction is yet ). I ate the food and didnt vomit or have an PB. I couldnt control myself and am paying fot it now. I feel so bloated, and my stomach hurts, and I have gas. I feel like a failure, I have done so well until now. Im worried i stretched my pouch or that the band is not going to be able to help me........ PLEASE HELP SOMEONE:sad:

Well, don't beat yourself up. It's over & done with. Just focus on getting back in the saddle now. Protein!!! Drink some Protein shakes & plan out what you're going to eat tomorrow & drink lots of Water. The Protein will make you feel full.

:) Almost everyone goes through this at one time or another. Don't worry about it. We've all had bad eating habits for a long time and it will take a while to break them. Just start over and try to stick to the food regimine. You won't feel restriction until after you have had a few fills. After the operation you are swollen and it gives a false sense of restriction. Once the swelling subsides, you can eat more. It's just part of the process.

Hang in there. Better times are just around the corner.

Overall I eat pretty healthy. But if I want something, I have it,

IN MODERATION! I have not binged at all. I feel, if you deny yourself those things, you wont be happy, and you will lose control. This may not work for everyone, but it works for me. 26lbs since surgery in 2 months.

Don't beat yourself up so much! That's part of the OLD you :) We will all have our times of regression - it's what we do after a set back that will set us apart from the pack. I can't imagine you did any damage. One of the reasons you were able to eat too much was because you don't have restriction and nothing stays in your pouch yet. Yes - if lots of food was able to "sit" in your pouch, I could see where it might stretch. However, it all passed right through to your big stomach which is why you were able to eat more! Better days ahead - forgive yourself!

Remember you are not a bad person for eating "bad food". Don't dwell in it, just pick yourself up and start again. You can do it!

A few years go I went to Al-ANON (support for families of addicts/alcoholica) and I learned a great phrase. You have "stinking thinking", meaning you are in the frame of mind of your old self, that you 'blew it', that you're a 'failure', etc. STOP!! You have made a fantastic positive change for a better future for yourself. A healthy body and a thinner profile. Forget yesterday, it's gone. Tomorrow is a promise and a gift, remember that and do what you need to get back on track. liquids for a couple days should make that happen. All best wishes - you've come this far - you can go all the way.:smile2:

for me it was (and sometimes still is) a DAILY battle to make the right choices...i woke up and wanted pancakes or a cinnamon roll...i choose an egg instead...lunch I wanted a big juicy burger...i choose cold cuts and cheese....supper I wanted spaghetti....i choose a salad or grilled chicken....i have to physically talk myslef out of eating those items sometimes! every single day I tell myself I CAN make the right food choices....some days are harder than others. you aren't even one month post op....thats not a very long time for your menatl to kick in with the physical. you will get there! but for now pick yourself up by the bootstraps and focus on tomorrow! tomorrow is a brand new day :smile2:

I haven'r even been banded yet so I cant really talk about that much, but this is what I find helps if I have those cravings for pancakes or things I shouldn't eat. Run to the fridge and eat something healthy quick! If you eat something before you let the craving build up in your mind, it seems to take your mind of it. What I am trying to say is,while you are hungry, the craving for things you shouldn't eat is a lot worse.

I'm VERY new at this, banded 7/19, but I think it may help to have a few posts of what other newbies are eating & going thru so we can keep everything in perspective. So, I'll start with y'day:

Supplements: 40gm proteing drink, Multivitamin, liquid B12, 3 gas-x

Food: 5 mini Reese's PB Cups, 2 spoons of spaghetti sauce, boiled egg, & a few kernels of popcorn.

Not a nutritious day & the reason for the gas-x is clear. But, today is a new day LB family!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
