Dody 0 Posted December 2, 2005 Hi, my name is Dody and I'm a retired nurse. I'm going to be banded in Oak Ridge, Tennessee within the next few mo. I've read a lot of posts and find you are a tight knit and supportive group, which is a great thing. I hope that you will allow me to infringe on your space once in awhile and share in some of your experiences. I'm excited, but a little worried. I'm older then most bandsters I've seen on here. I'm 62, but I feel oh so much younger (except for my feet which hurt). I think taking some weight off will take care of that. I'm 5' 9" tall and weight 157. I have sleep apnea; high cholesterol; high blood pressure; heart problems; hypothyroidism; and meet many of the co-morbitity factors. I have studied the band at length and think it meets all the criteria I'm looking for. I'm hoping to get to know all of you very well.
psichikel 0 Posted December 2, 2005 Hi Dody, Welcome to the group. I'm pre-op myself. I will have my surgery Jan 27th, it seemed like a long time but now we are into December I'm sure it will roll by quickly. Sounds like we'll be banded around the same time...you stating you'll have yours in a few months? Where are you having your's done? I'm going to Mexico, Dr. Aceves to have mine done because I'm self-pay. I'm getting my lapband to avoid some of the co-morbities, luckily even as fat as I am (5'3", 320) I don't have high blood pressure, or cholestrol problems but I know if I continue that won't last for long, so I figure get in control now before it becomes a bigger problem. I just wish they had this surgery a long time ago, but I guess better late than never. I wish you all the best for your upcoming surgery. I'm sure you'll do just fine and we'll both be Big Losers!!! Take Care and again..Welcome Aboard!
paula 4 Posted December 2, 2005 Hi Dody, and WELCOME to our support group! I have sleep apnea; high cholesterol; high blood pressure; heart problems; hypothyroidism; and meet many of the co-morbitity factors. Isnt it funny how we all shared the same problems pre banding? There's tons of great reading material in the archives. God bless and Happy reading!
kimberly6671 0 Posted December 2, 2005 Hi Dody - Welcome. Can I ask....if you are 5 foot 9 and weigh 157, wow, that sounds pretty thin...why are you being banded? Just curious.

Guest ASPHALT ANGEL Posted December 2, 2005 Good luck Dody and welcome to LBT. Was 157 ponds a typo because I can't imagine a doctor doing surgery on someone 5'9 and 157 lbs.?
Dody 0 Posted December 2, 2005 That was a finger hitting a wishful key I think. I'm 257, but my goal is 157. I would be thrilled with that. Sorry about that. I am 100 lbs. overweight for sure. I vaguely remember 157 long ago........long, long ago. Sorry for the mistake. I just happened to hit the wrong key.
Teresita 0 Posted December 2, 2005 LOL wishful thinking is a wonderful thing. I'm glad to hear it was just a mistake. Good Luck

Dody 0 Posted December 2, 2005 Although I am one of The Oak Ridge Boys biggest fans and always will be I don't know any of them personally. A long time ago I saw them in concert though. They were awesome. I still love to hear their music played today.
