kerr4jenn 0 Posted July 23, 2010 Hi, I am new to the lapband. I recently got banded on 07-15-10. I have been getting really hungry and have cheated on my liquid diet. Not really alot, but little things that have started to make me really scared. I am worried about band slippage and errosion. I have not really lost very much weight and am not sure that I am really hungry or if it is my mind playing tricks on me. My stomach has growled and I have eaten. I have not eaten near as much as I used to and I am very thankful for that. Please help me. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated. I really want this and need to lose the weight. Thank you for taking the time to read this and respond.

I was banded on 7/13 so I know what you are talking about when you say you were hungry. I joke that I was hungry enough to eat a cow, but I didn't. I kept having small amounts frequently so I didn't let the hunger get out of control. My doc says full liquids for the first week so I just used Protein Shakes and yogurt and chicken broth to keep my stomach "full" and stop the growling. I have to admit, there were a few times that I went to bed because I was so hungry. I started on pureed foods yesterday and I cannot get over how much better I feel. A friend of mine who was banded several years ago says to keep it in perspective. The three or four weeks of liquids, pureed and soft foods is such a small time period in relation to the rest of your life. Try to give your band time to heal though and don't go on a binge that will ruin all of the work you've done to get ready for this! Sorry for the novel, but I know how "hungry" can change your mindset so much.
