I just need to vent a little. I am a woman with PCOS, a pituitary gland that is spewing testosterone like it is going out of style, and fat. I have been trying to get pregnant for about 7 years now. I am 35 years old. The last 3 years I have spent doing 4 IUI's and 2 IVF's. I have 1 IVF left on my insurance. The Dr tells me that everything look good down there and that he can't figure out what the problem is. :) Now...it is pretty clear that it is my weight that is standing between me and a baby.

I am almost done with my 6 month supervised diet, PT and psych consult. I am going to a seminar with my surgeon tomorrow, and hopefully the rest of the tests will be done soon. I am so super excited about the band, and I can't wait to get it....I just want to scream DO IT NOOOOOW!!!!

So now, since I am almost there, and will be loosing weight to (hopefully) be in the normal BMI range, I am hoping that I will be able to get pregnant. I am also scared that I will be at a normal BMI...and still won't get pregnant.

Well my fellow bandsters....I know I am not alone in here that is trying to get preggers. I am sorry for taking up space on here and ranting about crap....but I guess I just wanted it off my chest...AND, a woman in my office just had her baby girl this morning, and another one told me today that she is 4 months. So, I am feeling sad and blue right now...and figured that I can always share with you all.

Good Luck to all of you!!!!

Hi!!

Oh my gosh, don't apologize for venting!!)

I do want to share with you my experience. I am 33 now, and also had PCOS. I don't know if I still do, because I have lost weight and haven't had a recent check. My doctor several years ago said that "with my PCOS, the chances of having a baby were remote, and the chances of having a healthy baby were slim to none". I remember his exact words when he told me this. Right after he dropped this bomb on me, he said that there is a big solution to this--and that is weight loss.

Anyway, I just want you to be comforted that there will be a good chance that your problem might be solved with weight loss. Don't lose hope!!!!! :)

Let me know if I can help you in any way (especially to vent!!))

Cindy

P.S. I had mine done in Mexico 2.5 weeks ago--but I know the local hospital here requires 2 forms of birth control before they will put in the band, because people become fertile as heck afterwards...lol!

Just wanted to let you in on my story...my husband and I tried 5 years (at 35) before I got pregnant. I, too, was diagnosed with PCOS and was told that I probably wouldn't get pregnant and if I did it was doubtful that I would carry a healthy baby to term. Well, I made the decision to stop going to the doctor, stop taking all the medicine that she put me on the "help the process" and a month later, I was pregnant. I was induced a week early because we wanted my husband to be there for the birth (he wasn't because of his military duty) but I had a perfectly healthy baby boy that weighed 9lbs. I had NO pregnancy issues AT ALL! Our son is now 6 yrs old and as happy and healthy as a child can be! I had my lapband done a year ago and I've lost 75lbs. Keep your spirits high and know that there's a blessing in the form of a miracle waiting for the right time to be presented to you.

Hello....my story is like the rest posted here. My husband and I tried for three years to get pregnant with no success (PCOS & excess weight). We both decided to lose some weight and get healthy....the stress of not getting pregnant and work issues helped me to gain 70 lbs over the previous 5 years.

I got pregnant the instant I hit a BMI of 27. I know that this is still overweight, but I started at a BMI of 35. Finally at age 33 I had a healthy baby boy.

We decided to have another child, but I hadn't really lost the weight from the first pregnancy. We tried and tried thinking that since I had gotten pregnant once it would be easier the second time. Nope. I started WW and lost weight and at a BMI of 27 (again!) I suddenly got pregnant and had another little boy at age 36.

I now have to band to help me lose the weight again.....and this time keep it off for good. I don't plan on having anymore kids so I really hope that this is the last time that I have to do this! So far I love my band!

What I am trying to say is that with PCOS I think that weight REALLY matters. Give the band a go and see what happens!

I wish you success with your weight loss and with getting pregnant!

To HappyMom:

That actually gives me hope, as well. My BMI is at 35 (or just under). It is helpful to hear that when you lost the weight you suddenly got pregnant--we aren't ready for a baby yet (well, actually, are you ever really ready for your first?? lol) but we are thinking maybe next year. Hopefully all will be well when the weight comes off...

Anyway, congrats to usmcwife and toi HappyMom!! That is great. Gives the rest of us something to be hopeful for!

My sister in law just got preggers and she is 30, 6 feet tall and weighs around 330 lbs. She also has pcos. You will be able to get preg but the stress may be slowing you down.

I got banded b/c I want to have a healthy second baby. I weighed 260 lbs when I conceived my first son, now 3. I gained 40 lbs during pregnancy for a grand total of 300 lbs. I swore I wouldnt do that to my body again and tried for 3 years to lose the weight. Finally I got the band and am excited to have a fit healthy pregnancy.

There are all sorts of pregnancies, but one thing is for certain, you will have a better chance of getting preg and being healthy if you lose weight! best of luck!!

Ladies....THANK YOU!!!! You have all given me so much hope! I know that this band will help me in so many ways. And of course I hope that I will get pregnant without having to go through another IVF. So... CindyMinnesota...I am hoping that I too will get "fertile as heck"!!! That would be wonderful.

I am going to have this band....lose weight...become a smaller version of myself...and then hope and pray that this will help with the baby problems.

BUT...I am also doing this for health reasons. Obviously the PCOS and testosterone problems. I also want to feel better, lighter, be able to ...hrmf..jog!!!:) I know...jog! And...damn it...be able to wear a tank top in public!

So again...I THANK YOU all for responding, and I knew I couldn't be the only one here having these problems. I am now super excited and so thrilled to be on this banding journey! Good Luck everyone!!!

Tallgirl,

You will do GREAT!!! We are all here to support each other, and that's what's great about this forum...

I was banded 3 weeks ago (actually, tomorrow will be 3 weeks!), so I will be happy to answer any questions you have or offer any kind of support you would like! This is all new to me, too, as I am just at the beginning of my journey..This website has been a great support from the beginning. :)

Good luck with your surgeon's meeting tomorrow!! Keep us updated on your progress as you get closer to a surgery date!!

To CindyMinnesota:

Wow, Thank You! I am scared but happy at the same time. I am of course one of those women that think that I will be the one that will fail this. And won't be able to lose the weight....but it seems like most of us feel like that. I am just having such a hard time understanding that in a few months....I might be able to lose weight...and actually see it. Sure, a few pounds here and there.....but I never had to buy any new clothes or anything. It's like I can't wrap my head around me getting smaller. When you have lived fat for so many years, it is hard to visualize yourself as skinny. Well, not skinny, but you know what I mean. But it is happening. And you are already in the race, you are already in the game baby!!! And I can't wait to have it done. I can't wait to get that feeling of fullness, after just eating 1/2 a cup of ...something. I am so happy that you got it done and are a few steps ahead of me....cause you know I will bombard you with questions!!! :)

Have a good weekend and be safe!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
