3 months post-op progress update

Recommended Posts

Well, I'm 3 months out and have said good bye to 34.7 pounds forever.. I've had 2 fills and really feel restricted in the morning, but by 4:00-ish I feel I can't eat alot more than I should. Going to weigh-in apt on Friday and will see about another fill. I know my weight loss has been good ...BBBBUUUUTTTT I am dissappointed in my weight loss. I've only loss about 3 lbs in the last month:confused:. In addition to my band, I'm also on high protein/low carb eating (won't say diet b/c its a lifestyle change)...so I expect to lose more than the 1-2 lb week guidline. In all fairness, I should also report I had sinus surgery on 7/2. Not sure if that has something to do with it or not (hoping so).

Thanks for all of the support thru this whole process. Getting my band was one of the best things I did!!

Kristina

Your weight loss is tremendous! Seriously, look ahead a bit: if you keep up this pace, you will have lost almost 75 pounds in six months.

I'm also on high protein/low carb eating (won't say diet b/c its a lifestyle change)...so I expect to lose more than the 1-2 lb week guidline.
Your rate of loss is closer to 3 pounds a week (2.89, if it's been 3 months since your surgery.) Expecting more is not realistic.

I am on a low-carb, higher-Protein plan, too---and my rate of loss is 2.6 pounds/week. Some weeks it's more, some weeks it's less--but the overall rate is FAST.

YOUR rate of loss is fast, too.

Time to overhaul your expectations a little

(And yes, surgery and surgical recovery can affect loss temporarily. But try to remember that this is NOT a quick fix. You're losing at a rate well above the average--celebrate!)

Thanks Betsy - its funny you were the one with a reply b/c I admire your weight loss and checked out your food routine to compare to mine. I looked at mine to make sure that I wasn't being honest with my work. ( I didn't want to say "I just don't know why the weight is coming off"). So, I make sure I log everything I eat (i use sparkpeople.com) and keep up with my exercises. I found I need to do better with my water.... so I'm back to my 64 oz again. I find its really hard to get my Water in with my drinking/eating restriction (no drinking 15 min before and 2 hrs after eating). In addition to the water, I truly think/hope that the sinus surgery (very needed and very happy I did it - I can breathe now) stalled me out.

Thanks for putting my average in black n white so to speak. Seeing the numbers like that put a proud smile on my face. Most people think lapband is a easy way to weight loss. I don't know about you , but I feel I'm working very hard with my tool and my loss is due to my work not an easy fix. So I was proud and it feels good to have validation from others!!

You ROCK!!

Thanks,

Kristina

two hours after???? I would go nutso!!! I'm allowed to drink 30 minutes after and right up until I eat.

Kristina, you're doing great! Yes, it is hard work--especially when you're committed to a pretty strict plan. But it really is worth it in the long run. I don't know about you, but I feel tons better without the junkier stuff, too.

My doctor has a 90-minute rule for drinking--so I empathize. (I'm a rule-follower, too. I figure doing it my way never got me where I needed to go!)

I am 3 months post op also(banded 4/13).I have yet to have a fill because of various reasons, but the last reason was because I am doing so well without it, why make myself uncomfortable? So I ask why make myself uncomfortable?? Just curious as to what I am missing,I have lost 52 lbs. I really do not want to lose weight any faster than that, but I do want to weigh less. I am scheduled for a fill on August 11th and do not know if I need it or not. I do know that I really never feel full, but I do have limitations. I have never had anything stuck, and I am not sure I want to go down that road if I don't have to. So I am taking it slow and one day at a time. I would do it all over in a heart beat and wish I had done it earlier!!

Just saying hi and thank you again. The scale is on the move again....looks like my body needed to recover from my sinus surgery (on 7/2). I'm proud to say I never said "forget this" during the rough spot....well to be honest...I would never say that I would use much better curse words:lol:. Anyway, I'm still trying to do better with my Water...always get 6 glasses in...those last 2 are hard sometimes. Following all the great advice here...I started drinking more Water at night to help with the hunger at night. I'm also going to get a "little" fill on the 2nd. I'm hoping this puts me in the super sweet spot and on full restriction.

Thanks for all the support:wub:,

Kristina

Kristina- We have lost almost the same weight in the same time frame.... I keep telling myself as long as I keep making good choices than this will come off. As inspiration I use the two ladies in my office who were banded- one lost a ton of weight fast- like 80lbs in 4 months- the other was a slow loser- two years out and the fast loser has gained a lot back- the slow loser looks FANTASTIC!! She just reached her goal.

Keep up the good work!

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
