Banded in 4/09 - lost 60 lbs so far - doing well, except I notice that I can't eat solid foods very well and oftentimes am eating things that I know can just slide through - ie. Beans, sour cream, Soups, etc.

chicken, Steak, Fish is all almost IMPOSSIBLE even when I chew chew chew..... Even eggs are quite impossible, especially in the morning.

I don't want to screw with my weight loss and I am certainly feeling "full" although not for many hours. I am thinking a SLIGHT unfill to allow for more solid food, thus helping me feel "fuller" longer?.?.?

Agree or disagree?

Thanks!!!!!

I thought I was chewing well, but I was still pb'ing on food like chicken, steak, and even Beans. I've been concentrating on chewing more, taking small bites and eating slower and I'm finally having less episodes of pb's. I don't even try something like eggs in the morning because I am too tight then. I have a Protein Shake instead. It's not good to be going to other foods just because they go down easier - I know, I've done it. You may consider a slight unfill, or just try eating slower, chewing more and taking small bites first. I've even gone to using toddler spoons and forks to make sure I take smaller bites.

I gave up on having solid food in the morning and have my Protein Shake then. For lunch, something solid, but soft and for dinner something "normal." Dry chicken gives me trouble too, but if you work with the bands little quirks you will be much happier. Don't do an unfill unless you really can't keep liquids down. If you have a rough day and forget the band and try to eat something that anyone would get stuck on (like pizza with a thick crust...), give your pouch a break and do a few days of liquids to let it rest.

Forget eating eggs in the morning. Hardly anyone with a band can tolerate that! Learn what you can and can't do and accept that it is your new reality. You will see the weight come off especially as you feel better and add in a daily walk.

I think a slight unfill is in order. The fact that you have recognised that you are choosing sliders means that you are too tight. The band is designed to work with normal healthy food not easy to eat sliders. Being too tight can lead to all sorts of problems and if you get into a habit of eating sliders you may start gaining weight as typically they are high cal and easy to eat a lot more of.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
