I have been feeling super nauseous and light-headed after workouts lately. I'm getting enough to eat and drink so am wondering if it could be my blood pressure getting too low. I am on meds and have been hoping to get off them eventually but it feels like this is a bit soon. Has anyone else with BP issues gotten off meds as a result of weight loss and did you have the same initial symptoms?

I got off my blood pressure meds after weightloss. I had the symptom of being dizzy if I got up to fast. It may not be too soon to get of your med, or have it reduced. You may want to check in with your doctor. Are you working out real hard? That could be why your nauseous. Best wishes!

Please call and check with your doc. Here's what happen with me - starting weight 252.5...banded 4/22/10.....two months later and 25 lbs lost...my doc took me off one of my bp meds....i'm still on the Water pill.

I was very happy and very very surprise how quick I got off my "main" meds. It really sounds like you need a BP apt with your doc.

Good luck:thumbup:

Please don't even wait for a doctor appointment. See if you can just stop in and have a nurse take it for you. Or, go to a store that has one of those automatic blood pressure machines. Its very likely that your blood pressure is too low. The same thing happened to me. I was on a strong dose of high bp medicine and just a few months after surgery, my blood pressure dropped WAY low.

I have a bp monitor at home, but hadn't been checking it regularly. I figured it would take a long time (and a lot of weightloss) before my bp would drop. Then, I just started not feeling well, really tired, and then dizzy. So, I took it and it was 88/65. I stopped taking my med the next morning and my BP finally stabilized in the normal/healthy range. I made an appointment w/my doctor after the fact and she said I did the right thing. Then, she took me off my high cholesterol medicine too so she can retest later and see if I still need it.

By the way, my surgeon said that a lot of times high bp resolves itself faster than you'd think after weightloss surgery because just eating less reduces inflamation in the body. I guess it makes sense... eating less means you are also eating a lot less salt and bad stuff. It just took me by surprise that my high BP resolved itself so quickly because I've been on meds for it for over 10 years and I've weighed A LOT less than I do now and it never went down before.

DH is having this trouble too, but the thing is, he's tried stopping the medication (with doctor approval) twice now and his BP shoots up high again after a couple of weeks, not REALLY high, 140/90 or so, but high enough that the doctor wants him medicated.

Weight loss hasnt solved his blood pressure problems unfortunately, some people will have high BP no matter what they do, but with DH he's lost the weight purely through restriction and eating less and not through exercise, so I think that would really make a difference.

So... at the moment he's in a dilemma, too high without medication, too low WITH medication. He's trying half a pill a day as he's already on the lowest dose of Micardis.

I'd definitely think about trying without the meds and seeing what happens.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
