I was banded on 6-23 and have had no restriction so I thought my band was empty. I have been struggling to eat the right things as I am hungry all the time. I went for my first fill today and the NP said I had 5 cc's in there so she only gave me a .5cc and said to come back in 2 weeks!!! I am so discouraged. I have only lost a total of 9 LBS and I am starting to think I really had this surgery for nothing!!!!!

Please don't despair. I didn't feel much restriction at all till I had 7 CCs in my 10 CC band. Before that, I could feel a little restriction, but I could eat around it. *facepalm*

Now I feel like I actually have a band. Real restriction makes all the difference in the world. Hang in there, be patient with yourself, do the best you can but know that until you have restriction, you're flying solo....

In the mean time, nine pounds lost is nothing to sneeze at. I've "only" lost 20 so far. But I wouldn't have lost anything without the band -- I would have gained!

I had surgery on the 22nd of June. I had my first fill today. The doctor put in 4cc. Right after surgery I felt some restriction but the last two weeks I have noticed that I'm very hungry. But even though I'm hungry I refuse to give in to the snack attack! I'm hoping that this fill today will start to help a little as I have to wait 6 weeks for my next one! Congrats on the weight loss so far! Keep going!

I had surgery on May 27th. Had good restriction all the way through June. By the beginning of July I was getting hungry, but could not get away from work. I had my first fill today, doesn't feel too much different right now. I had coffee cups of cream Soup and about 6 triscuit crackers. Feeling full now. We'll see how it goes tomorrow, when I eat some real food. I hope to get that good restriction like I had before, with just a small amount of food for meals.

Hey 9 lbs is great ! I was banded 6/3, my band is empty and as of yet I have not had a fill, I go 8/12 which is the first appointment I was able to get. I am hungry now all the time...I did great for about the first month, I now know what bandster hell is......Just remember the weight did not come on overnight and it will not go off overnight.

I have eaten a few things that I should not have eaten and I also had stopped keeping my food journal....started back on Monday and I already see a difference on the scale.

Good luck to you !

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
