uscgal97 0 Posted July 20, 2010 I'm excited to get my second fill this afternoon. But, I'm feeling a little anxious about it as well. My weight loss has stalled a bit - i'm ready to begin the journey of losing this weight in earnest. But, I also like having my band that restricts the food intake without the terrible side affects - pbs, getting stuck, etc. Fortunately, I haven't experienced any of these things yet but I'm afraid that this second fill may actually take me to the next level where I'll really have to confront my food issues and slow down my eating. While I know the benefit will be weight loss, the fear of losing normalcy in my life is taking over a bit right now.
Nean4488 1 Posted July 20, 2010 I know this feeling, I can eat whatever I want at this point without having all the side effects, and honestly i love my band at this point. I stopped losing weight last week, so I just upped my calories that I am eating and I already lost some weight. I would def not be ready for a fill but if your not losing weight, you might need one! goodluck
MountainMama 5 Posted July 20, 2010 We were banded on the same day. I had my second fill on the 9th. So far I got stuck once but I have to admit it was my fault. I didnt chew properly and paid for it. This fill has showed me that I needed to slow down and be more aware of myself when I am eating. I too can still eat what I want, with the exception of sliced bread, but I am trying my best to make Band and health smart decisions. Give yourself the chance to be alert to the small changes you will feel after this fill. And be smarter then I was, CHEW when you come off the liquids. :tt2: Good luck at your fill. While I know the benefit will be weight loss, the fear of losing normalcy in my life is taking over a bit right now. Ask for a small fill. Sneak up on your sweet spot. When you eat, pay attention to what you are doing. Take VERY small bites and chew well. While PBs and getting stuck are not always in your control, doing the above will certainly help to limit them. Go very slowly as you get used to your new restriction level. It is a learning process. At the same time, don't rely on slider foods that you know will go down easily and not get stuck. These tend to be highly processed and high in calories which will not help in your weight loss efforts. It is a fine line we walk between good restriction and too tight. You will find the best level for YOU. My band is fairly loose, so I rarely get stuck. I can eat most anything, including bread, Pasta, and rice, with the exeption of chicken breast and Bagels. I also have to be wary when I eat Pasta noodles like lasagna, sometimes it seems to re-form over the stoma and get stuck no matter how little are the bites I take. I've been banded for 5 months and one thing I've learned as that this is a learning process that takes time. Time for our bodies AND minds to adapt. I think we all go through these fears - but, I guarantee you, once you get to your perfect fill, you'll have your food "rules" down, your mind will have caught up and you'll be ready for the next phase. uscgal97 0 Posted July 20, 2010 I'm back from my fill. It's amazing how easy that process is. I got another 1.5 cc's for a total of 3.9 in my 10 CC band. It's TIGHT right now. I'm sure it will loosen up as the swelling goes down a bit. I'm still anxious about how to make my way with my new band but I appreciate everyones words of wisdom. My mind tells me - if everyone else can successfully navigate this band, I can too - I'm just a little apprehensive and a bit of a worrier. I'm sure it will be fine. Thanks all.
