I wasn't getting any hits on the other board. I need to purchase some more Protein Powder and wasn't sure which direction to go in.

Which have you tried? I purchased the plain Protein isolate which was pretty impressive. No taste, no smell, mixed well with Crystal Light and Water, also mixed well with milk. Also purchased the Dutch chocolate cake mix. Best mixed in milk, just OK in water.

Let me know which you have tried, how you mixed it and was it tasty!

Thanks! Surgery is on Wednesday (July 21) and I need to order a few more options.

I have never done much of the powder mix-ins.... I have tried the muscle milk, the Isopure, isolate, soy Protein, and designer whey, but I really didn't like them I have alsways stuck with Worldwide Pure Protein Drink premixed in a can. I have tried the Cookies n creme, banana, vanilla, and chocolate. I have really liked these ones, I even just recently tried there powder to mix with Water and milk and found it to be one of the best I have tried.

Protein powder choices really vary widely. Some people swear by Max Protein, and I find it gritty and unappetizing. What I do use is powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chocolate and GNC Pro Performance Designer Whey Cookies and cream. Those are my favs. I also use the GNC vanilla for mixing in recipes, pudding, etc.

My nephew is a pro athlete and he's the one who recommended that kind of GNC - it's lower is carbs, has lots of flavor, and mixes easily without costing the earth. I mix my Protein Powder with milk wherever possible, figuring the extra dairy & protein are good things.

Hope this helps!

I like the Dutch chocolate cake mixed with almond milk. I use 8-12 ounces instead of the recommended 4 ounces of liquid. Usually, I drink this warm.

I have to say, the last 2 bags of the chocolate have NOT been as good as usual; I've written to Bariatric Eating to see if they've had other complaints; they just aren't up to snuff. (They're much better if I add a little good-quality vanilla extract.) This is disappointing, because while I recognize they work to tweak products to improve them, sometimes they miss the mark.

I also like the PURE unflavored.

The Pom Razz Sangria is good IF you mix it with MUCH more liquid than recommended. I use a scoop in a liter of Crystal Light lemonade---and really like it. I don't like it at ALL when mixed as directed.

The Peanut Butter cookie flavor is good, but also very sweet, and best if made with 2-3 times as much liquid as recommended. Again, I like almond milk.

They are coming out with a vanilla in the next month or so. THAT one, I am very much looking forward to.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
