I did not get my surgery yet, however, my doctor is ready to send his letter to the insurance company for approval. Unfortunately, my insurace requires that I lose six more pounds so my doctor is waiting until I can lose the weight prior to submitting. HELP! I have six more pounds to go and I am struggling. I am eating very low carb, low fat, and high Protein. I am also exercising two times a day. Any suggestions on how I can get these resistant pounds off so I can get a date scheduled?!?!?

Try doing the pre-op diet to lose those pounds. Mine was up to 5 slimfast shakes a day and only 2 cups of veggies (NO corn, pea, potatoes) and NO fat! It's a bit hard in the beginning, but when you see the weight come off, it's worth it. I kept to 3 slimfast a day and ate cucumbers and tomatoes at dinner. You do get sick of the shakes, but again, when you see the weight come off..... I lost 18 pounds in 2 weeks on the pre-op diet.

Good luck!

ok, I wouldn't consider this real weight loss, because it wouldn't really be fat lost, but you could go to a health food store and buy one of those body cleanses, it will clean you out and you will lose weight, if your goal is just a quick 6 lbs it might just do the trick  I think most of them you take for like 2 weeks. Good Luck!

First of all...I love your the festivus! You must be a fellow Seinfeld fan. Thanks for the advice. I started a really low fat, low carb, high Protein diet last Thursday and I am down 6 pounds...4 more to go! I have been staying away from the corn, peas, potatoes as you said. It really does work. I also have been working out like a mad woman.

PS...my family does a festivus celebration every year so we can have airing of grievances.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
