my band slipped.

Recommended Posts

well i found out my band slipped last week. i'm pretty bummed out. i was put on a very strict diet for 3 weeks. my nurse practioner told me not to get discouraged. she felt that if i adhered to this program really well my band will take care of itself.

i have been throwing up off and on for months now but thought it was ok. usually if i ate too much too fast past the point of being full.

i want to hide and eat now that my band is open. i can eat whatever i want but have to stay on liquids. im giving myself a serious talk here because i have eaten ice cream every day since i was told i had to be on liquids only. i have had a couple of small bites of solid foods tonight only. i am so ashamed. :blushing:i didn't read enough of the literature at the beginning and didn't really think it could really happen to me.

now im reading everything i can about it. im suddenly feeling very possessive of my band.

some really good things have happened. am learning how to tell when i eat out of hunger, or other reasons. have started to recognize signs of hunger, feelings of fullness etc. i have lost 56 pounds in 1 .5 years and kept it off.

so all in all its good. ill keep you posted. and ill stay on liquids for the rest of the time frame, next week to mushies, then 3 small regular meals - irma

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
