How often does food get stuck for you?

Recommended Posts

I'm asking for people who have had their band for a while... so say:

1. how often you puke

and

2. how long you've had your band for.

Not sure what you define as "a while", so I may not be what you had in mind  - BUT, I'll give you my answer anyway.

I've only puked once (two weeks ago) - I ate some chicken that was a bit on the dry side....let's just say, I hope to continue my non-puking streak - that was not pleasant.

I do sometimes feel food just sitting there sort of stuck"ish", but it usually goes away within a few minutes so not sure it's a real stuck, KWIM?

1. how often you puke- I'm on my 2nd fill have 5.75cc n a 10cc band and I usally have a pb(stuck) episode at least 2x a wk & the cause is usally eating too fast! I have never "puked" from overeating my band won't allow it if I overeat it jus feels like Thanksgiving dinner but for 3hrs!! Uggh!

and

2. how long you've had your band for- lapband date was March 16,2010.

I've been banded for 5 months (Feb 2010) and after my last fill, I've been having "stuck" issues about 3 times a week...I'm slowly learning what works and what doesn't-Meanwhile I'm a work in progress:scared2:

I get stuck maybe twice a week and almost always because I am careless.

I've been banded 4.5 months and have never puked.

I have been banded since 2/27/10...I've never had a PB episode, but I have "stuck" problems 2-3 times a week, driven by how fast I eat, how big a bite I've taken, and how thoroughly I chew. It's VERY uncomfortable, and you think by now I'd know better than to set myself up for it, but I get focused on something else, and I kinda forget about my band!

Hope this helps!

Christine

Banded since October 2009

Since my last fill in May I PB 3x a week and have had some PB/throwing up combo about once a week.

I too have the stuck feeling that usually passes with movement.

I had a really bad stuck incident in April by eating a Triscut. God, It was hours before that thing passed/came up!

Like others, most "incidents" are self inflicted by rushing, over eating or a stupid choice.

Annoying that a 'good' food can suddenly become a 'bad' one.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
