Cindylou, good to read from you. I`m glad the scale moved for you today. Stalls are bummers but I guess it`s the body`s way of adjusting and re-adjusting to the weight it`s shedding. Hope Astrasmom is heard from soon. Missing everyone else. Get in touch, you all.

I'm doing well with my maintenance. I lost another pound (don't tell my husband he will have a fit) so I am trying to eat more. I am between 132 and 135, so that makes me happy. I feel like anything less than 3 pounds is just Water weight. Of course when I was losing every pound down was a pound of solid fat, every pound up was just water. I think, if I weigh every day and adjust my eating from that I will be able to maintain forever, my plan is if the scales say 132 or less, eat more, if they say 135 or more, eat less. Easy right? Well see.

I'm not sure if I told y'all but my aunt sent me clothes, she is a true clothes horse and has lots of clothes in a variety of sizes from 4 to 12. Since the rods in her closets were breaking her husband said she had to get rid of some clothes. She sent me 60 pair of jeans, and 79 shirts. I only kept 30 pair of jeans and 50 tops and gave the rest to friends and family. So now I have this wonderful wardrobe and I get to wear something new every day. Most of these have never been worn. It has really been such a blessing, it seems like a reward for getting to my goal size, but I kind of feel guilty for having so much, it really is excessive.

It could be Water retention, HDmama. Doing 23mile bike ride yesterday could mean that you drunk a lot of Water and had still retained some when you weighed the following morning. Good to register that determination to continue and trying to stop thinking about it. Your in-laws live quite near me then. Do you come accross the pond to visit at times?

I`ve been very good with the diet today but did not exercise. As a matter of fact, I had not done any routined exercise over the weekend but I don`t feel guilty about that since I feel I need to rest my body. Possibly going for brisk-walk tomorrow morning.

kcg - we used to go regularly before we had little ones....we haven't been since my oldest was 2 (she's 7 now)...so it's been quite a while - I'm sure my DH is a bit homesick. I've told him he can go on his own if he wants to, but he doesn't want to go without us (and 4 tickets, plus car rentals can get pretty pricey..and we can only stay a week or so when we go ). His parents come out to us twice a year and stay 4-6 weeks each time, so it just seems to work out better (we give them our air miles so they don't have to pay so much).

Anyway...so after my big bike ride and the gain, I dd, in fact, start losing again....was doing fine and then all of a sudden, the scale started creeping up again. And after a long weekend of walking for over 10 hours...the scale was up again and slowly crept up 3 pounds from my lowest weight :bored:. So I really started considering getting another fill, and what do you know - the scale started moving back down again (not to where I was, but I'm now only 2 pounds up instead of 3!)....I will admit that I have been severely lacking in the exercise dept this week - I have done....ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. So tonight, I'm getting on my exercise bike and will do at least 30 minutes there and I will do at least 30 minutes on the treadmill....I've got to get this moving in the right direction again. At the rate I'm going, I won't be at my goal weight until Spring :w00t:.

Hope Astramom is OK...

Hi Girls, It breaks my heart to report that we have lost our dear Astrasmom. She did not survive the heart op. I`m extremely emotional this morning. I screamed and wailed after receiving the message from her darling husband.

Dawn will be dearly missed. She passed away on the 27th of August in the hospital. the op was scheduled for the previous Wednesday.

Dawn`s husband reported that they held a memorial service for her last saturday and about 200 people attended. Dawn`s husband reported that she loved her lapband.

My condolences to the family. I wish them peaceful existence since thiis could be heart broken for them.

Oh NO....that is heartbreaking news. I was hoping we'd hear from her that she was just in the hospital recovering...she seemed so sure that it would all be well. My condolences and prayers go out to her family.

The plan about 132, eating more and 135 eating less is a good one but.....As you wrote, let`s see whether it works and then we will all follow your plan when we get to the maintenance stage. LOL. You will be alright, hun, you`ve done the difficult bit.

Hey Girl, I`m liking the wardrobe of jeans and tops. You deserve it so enjoy them. If you keep within your goal weight then you`re going to be covered in regards to casual wear for a long time. Jealous! enjoy.

Oh I hate the way the scales play yo-yo games with us. I`m always beside myself whe I hit a plateau ro see the scale moving forward, especially when I`ve been good all week. I`m glad you`re not giving in to the frustration and you`re hitting the exercise equipments! Good for you, Girl. Keep it up.

So sad about Astrasmom. Not what we expected.

I`m doing considerably well with my eating and exercise plan this week. Hope I manage to keep it up since I need to kick myself out of a stall or was it a gain? Just touching base. Hope you`re all reaching for the sky since October will be here shortly!

KCG, What is your name? (I feel funny just calling you by KCG.) I'm glad to hear your doing well with your eating. I am 134 this morning, I have been eating well but drinking wine most nights and not exercising at all. Its been stressful at work and I have been fighting with my husband. But I have been canning vegetables and fruit which I really enjoy so that is keeping me sane.

I hope everyone is having a great week.

Call me Clare, hun. Oh dear, the wine demon has returned but it`s quite understandable with the stress and your DH playing up and winding you up. Fight within a marriage is always the man`s fault, right? It has to be. Pain, can`t live with/out them. Hey Girl, 134 is fine if you manage to keep it there but I trust in your ability to do so.

I`m sorry you`re having a stressful time at work. You don`t work with him, do you? Anyway, I hope you get to see blue the sky soon, hun. I know it`s easier said than done but shrug your shoulders hun. Hope you`re feeling a bit better already if not, I`m sending you the warmest of HUGS and a big cheerful kiss.

Please PM me if you need to. You could also send me your phone number and I will give you a call if you want me to do so. Either way, let me know that you`re alright, hun.

Feeling lethargic this afternoon but going to get something to eat and go grocery shopping. I refused to be a rugby groupie today so had a lie in but on 2nd thought, I should have gone because it usuall wakes me up and the brisk-walk around the pitch whilst watching the game do me a lot of good. Hey-ho, there will be another day. Hope you`re all reaching for the sky. Keep in touch.

I just got home from my jailbreak, my knees and elbows are scratched and I was so muddy they sprayed me off with a fire hose when we were done. I promise its been a while since I was hosed off. I didn't finish last, I was about 10 min ahead of the last finisher and I beat my sons girlfriend. I used a waterproof camera so I will post pictures when they are developed. It was a lot of fun. I am looking forward to the next one in March.

Hello ladies...hope you all had a great weekend.

Leigha, congrats on the run - sounds like fun (and way to go beating your son's girlfriend )

Clare - my DH would have been THRILLED to go to a game....he misses that I know - he subscribes to a special pay channel out here that shows the rugby games (of course they show them after the fact, so he has to be careful not to answer the phone when Wales plays because he doesn't want anyone to spoil it for him, LOL).

I have a rotten cold at the moment, but apparently, the upside of that is I seem to be tighter than normal, LOL. So I'm finding it difficult to eat solid food....so maybe I'll finally lose a few pounds

Hope everyone has a great week.

Leigha, way to go. I`m glad you had fun in your jailbreak run. It must be pleasing beating your son`s girlfriend. Don`t let her live it down until March when you go for the next run. Looking forward to seeing the pictures you post.

HDmama, sorry to read you`re unwell. Speedy recovery, hun. Abit of tightness do us a lot of good. I`m feeling quite restricted at the moment because of the time of the month so I`m hoping I get good results on Friday.

Welsh men and their rugby eh?

Hope everybody else is doing great this week.

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Seems it would be more compassionate not to perform a WLS on someone until they are mentally ready for it. Unless of course they are on death's door...

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
