Upper Stomach is thumping?

Recommended Posts

 OK I know this sounds weird, I was banded 5 months ago and all is well.

But about a week ago, I began to feel small thumping on the left side under the breast and toward the middle of that area. It started as a flutter, but now it's a thump. It doesnt hurt, just feels strange, almost like little kicks from a baby! I am not pregnant. I dont think its heart related, it's too low, but well above the port area..

So now I can look down and actually see the area jumping like a spasm. I am seeing the lap band doc tomoroow. Has anyone had this happen??

Sounds like a pulse to me. It is possible to feel your pulse in all sorts of different places. I don't think it's anything to worry about but you should mention it to yor Dr when you see him as that should give you peace of mind.

It does sound like that, and if I lie still I can see my chest move when my heart beats and I can see the pulse mid abdomen as the blood obviously rushes into the aorta. I can also see the femoral pulse and the pulse in my wrist and neck (looking in a mirror obviously). Do you think this could be it.

Otherwise, it really MIGHT be a muscle spasm if that's what it looks like.

the other thing that feels like a baby's kicks to me is gas! this is an embarrassing admission, lol, but I actually love when i do get a little gassy after a big meal or something and lie in bed at night and remember what it was like to feel my babies kicking. it did feel exactly the same.

So I went to the lapband doc on Friday. He says there is nothing wrong with the band or the area, except it was loose.

He gave me a fill (this is the 3rd) and wow now I am finally feeling the restriction. I did have lots of gas and port discomfort for 3 days but now am feeling better. i have lost 3 lbs just since Friday and well on my way to some more. I guess I didnt have the restriction that I thought I had before.

Then thumping is going away. Who knew what that was.

OMG - I always think the same thing when I feel gas like that...brings a smile to my face and then I laugh at myself and say "good thing I'm not worried about being pregnant, cuz that feels like a baby-kick!"

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
