Jannalise 0 Posted July 15, 2010 How soon after surgery do you get the fill? Is there criterea to get it? Someone said you have to have not lost weight first before they will fill you?
LilMissDiva Irene 3,282 Posted July 15, 2010 My first fill was at 8 weeks. It was supposed to be 6 whether or not I was losing, but as luck would have it my surgeon was on Vacay... LOL  Everyone's Drs criteria is different, but yes some do say they won't fill you if you are losing well, etc. Though I think that comes down the line, not for your first few. Good luck! btrieger 21 Posted July 15, 2010 My surgeon waits a minimum of 6 weeks after surgery for the first fill. If you don't lose at least 30 pounds you can never get a fill. Just kidding. One surgeon in a thousand may have a silly rule about not filling you if you gain weight. Let's look at the truth though. The people that gain weight need the fills the most. Bonnie_Lass 1 Posted July 18, 2010 My first fill was at 6 weeks after surgery and I had still lost weight since the surgery, which apparently is unusual. From reading the boards here, doctors do seem to be different. My surgeon's office waits 5-6 weeks after the surgery - that seems to be fairly common. You need some time to heal before a fill. They don't automatically do a fill, they do consider weight loss (they like it to be 1-2 pounds per week), but they also ask about how much you're eating, how hungry you are between meals, to assess whether a fill is needed or not.
