Anyone getting banded on July 22nd?

Recommended Posts

I am getting banded on July 22nd. Would like to buddy up with someone getting banded on the same day or close to that day to monitor each other's progress. I started my liquid diet today and it looks like it will be pretty tough! I will just have to keep that willpower going and look for the prize in the future!!

I'm having the surgery on the 22nd also! I had to start my liquid diet last Thurs. It stinks but I've lost 6 pounds so far. What kind of Meal Replacement are you drinking?

Hi,

We can stick together through this weight loss journey and give each other encouragement and support!!!

I am drinking Kelloggs Protein shakes right now... I really like them. I didn't really care for the other brands. I eventually will get Protein powder to put in my broths and Soups.

How are you doing with your liquid diet? I just started, so any advice would be great!!!

Hello both,

I'm getting banded on July 21st, so I'd like to join in on your journey as well, if that's okay. This Protein Shake diet is killing me, but I've seen pretty good results, I think. I've lost 11 pounds. What about you guys?

I hope you've both lost about that much. It hasn't been easy and had a few sneaks, but doctor said it was okay as long as I was going down in my weight.

I look forward to getting to know you both.

Ugh, I'm holding at 6 pounds still. I don't see how!! I have had 2 handfuls of popcorn over the week but I can't imagine that would cause me to stop losing. I am so glad to have a couple of people to share with- what an awesome idea! Next week is coming up so fast and now that it's almost here I'm getting pretty nervous. It doesn't help that the following Monday and Tuesday I have finals and my nursing pinning ceremony on Wednesday which is in front of 300 people. No stress at all

Six pound is nothing to be disappointed by. Just think, you'll never see those 6 pounds again... I know you can do it and we're here to support you. It won't be easy, nothing worth doing is. Good luck on your tests. I have faith in you!

I am getting banded on July 21st. Have you found someone to buddy up with yet? Perhaps we could do our own 'little' group? The liquid diet that you referred to, is it the same as the Protein Shakes?

I found out from my nutritionist that the Kelloggs shakes were the wrong ones to drink... Went to GNC today and bought Isopure Protein punches... Better than the shakes...with 40g of Protein per drink!..

I think because we are all having Lapband basically at the same time, we should all stick together as a group through our weight loss journey.... share our ups and downs and help each other through this time!

Keep posting everyone!

Angelle

Hey guys! I am up on Wednesday at 7:30 AM. I have been on a high Protein low carb diet since 7/1/10 and I am ready to go! I have lost 10.1 pounds and can't wait to drop another 120!

Best wishes to all. I will check in after surgery!

Great Idea MissNursette! Lets all stick together! I agree! I think I will be going to GNC for these next 2 days to get their shakes, I am really not liking the Bariatric Advantage ones. I am ok with the Myoplex ones and they seem to sell those everywhere. I am having a difficult time with the Protein after taste...any ideas?

I am getting banded this Thursday the 22nd too! I just started my liquid diet today though, as my doctor only requires for 3 days prior to surgery. Thank goodness. Not sure if I could handle it for any longer length of time. I am proud of you girls that are doing it! I have run the gamut of emotions already from nervous, scared, am I crazy for doing this, what if something goes wrong, etc. Now I am past all of that and just excited and happy it is almost here. I am ready to get it done, get it behind me and start losing weight!

I went to smoothie King today and they have a Gladiator Protein shake with 45 grams of Protein and no carbs or sugar. It tasted really good. They can make one in the store for you for $4.99 or they also sell the Gladiator powder. Individual packets are $2.50 a pack and the big tub is $39.99. I definitely recommend that to everyone if you have a smoothie King in your area.

Good luck to you fellow bandsters getting banded this week! I am excited for all of us!

Hi Everyone,

I am getting banded on the 22nd too and would love to join this group. I am so excited but I am really nervous too. I know it is safe and it will be fine, I am more worried how I handle it emotionally.

I have to say, this liquid diet is HARD. I can out eat just about anyone and to go from that down to barely nothing is hard. I know it is all emotional but still - it is hard. Fortunately, I only have to do it for little over a week. Whew!!

I think this group would be awesome. Lets all stick together and lose the weight together. I need to lose about 240 pounds so I have a long way to go but I am motivated.

Good Luck Guys - We are going to do great.

I'll be thinking about your all on Thursday. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
