Sore, tired throat - Too tight or CPAP pressure?

Recommended Posts

I had a fill a week ago and I finally have restriction. I don't have most of the "too tight" symptoms I read about. No PB's, no acid reflux, nothing is getting stuck. It just feels like the back of my throat or "neck muscles" are really tired all the time. It's not like a sore throat from a cold, or irritated from spicy food. It's more like I'm not interested in eating because it's too much effort to chew, not that eating or drinking make it more sore.

My other guess is that I need to adjust the pressure on my CPAP for sleep apnea since I've lost 40 lbs. Has anyone had symptoms like that when their CPAP pressure needed to be reduced? I've made an appt. with my sleep doctor first because I hope it's not band related. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Riverzgirl

If your machine has not been adjusted since the forty pound loss it can have a definite impact on you.

My doctor showed me how to adjust my pressure because he knew I would be losing weight and did not think it fair to come in every week or so to have the pressure changed. He said you could have an impact in just a 10 lb change in weight.

I lost weight on the pre-surgery diet and it felt like it was forcing air into my stomach - so I adjusted it down by one and it felt much better.

Also are you having any acid reflux - try a zantac before bed too?

Hope it gets better!:)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
