Because my BMI is pretty low now, yes my port does stick out. You can see it easily.

My surgeon said I have not much fat between my stomache muscles and my skin, so of course it'll stick out. I still prefer it sticking out than having the fat there!

No one I know has complained about the port sticking out yet tho. :)

Mine is like half a golf ball pasted on my abdominal wall. It is visible and very very easy to feel, you would only have to bump into me accidentally to notice I had a big hard lump there. My kids can feel it when they give me a hug, they dont even have to put their hands on it.

It may sound awful, but honestly, it doesnt bother me at all. I'd change it for a low profile one but the scars have all healed and I dont want a fresh scar there. I want o wear my bikini in Thailand in 9 weeks time!

Tracie-- I'm glad that made you smile, my port sticks out, you can see it and you can feel it. But I guess I just feel like its a part of me now.

There are low profile ports that they can change you to later when you are at goal and you don't need regular fills anymore. Sometimes they even move it behind your bellybutton if you have a Tummy Tuck.

I have made an agreement with myself not to make any decisions about what to do on port revision or tummy tuck until I have been at goal for at least 6 months to a year. That will give me a chance to get use to how things are and see if they really bother me.

The boobs, now that, is another story....:)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
