I eat lunch and dinner and then break up Breakfast into 2 small Snacks because i'm so tight in the mornings.

Breakfast is usually a granola bar followed up by fruit a couple hours later. Or Carnation Instant Breakfast followed up by a granola bar or fruit a couple hours later.

lunch is usually half a lean cuisine and dinner is whatever i cook on the grill. Usually it's chicken and some kind of vegetable or a stir fry.

There need to be more options. I snack but not every day. I usually eat 3 small meals.

It's an unusual day when I eat 3 meals. Mornings, I usually have a drink and no meal. If work is busy, I'll be lucky to have lunch some days.

Not the healthiest option, I know.

I preach a lot. So, I won't even pretend I don't but if you are only going to have one meal a day, you should make it breakfast. Even if it is only a Protein shake.

It really is the most important meal of the day.

I eat 3- 250 calorie meals and have 2- 150 calorie Snacks. If I only eat 3 meals I get too hungry and then overeat at meal time.

I don't really eat "meals" so to speak anymore. I eat small amounts of food all through the day. I am not a fan of eating X amount of calories at X time of day. I think this is the mentality that starts the snowballing toward obesity in some children.

Many of us were raised to eat at 8:00, Noon, 6:00 and weren't allowed to leave the table until our plate was cleaned because there were kids starving to death in far away lands.... So we stretched our stomachs, overate calories, unnaturally spiked our insulin levels and the ball was rolling....

I have 2 young children... ages 2 and 7. They both eat small amounts and then want away from the table because they are no longer hungry. Two hours later they want to eat a small amount of food again. I believe it's because thats what is natural. Why do we go from feeding infants small amounts every few hours - to requiring a 7 yr old eat everything on their plate even if they are full? Probably because we selfishly don't want them coming back in two hours wanting fed again...

Just food for thought... (sorry, couldn't help that)

Actually Brad, I think I subscribe to that too. I eat when I'm hungry. I'm not hungry in the morning. I'm hungriest in the evening. I eat slowly and after about 10 mins I'm not hungry anymore.

I snack. I do sometimes. Whether it's a coffee, or a piece of fruit. I eat when I'm hungry. I am not hungry often tho, and that's despite the fact that my band is qute loose. food doesn't interest me anymore unless my stomache is growling.

I'm with you guys in that I eat small amounts of food throughout the day, but also keep in mind that when your body calls to you to eat, your body is already nutrient deprived, which means that your metabolism is already dropping. Having said that, I try to keep my meals spaced out to a mild schedule, but it's usually give or take 30min or so.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
