Losing a Family Pet

A stranger sent this to me, I thought it was too sweet not to share:

THE RAINBOW BRIDGE

There is a bridge connecting heaven and earth. Its called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colours. Just this side of the bridge there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush green grass.

When a beloved pet passes on, the pet goes to this place. There is always food and Water and warm spring weather. The old and frail animals are young again and those who are maimed are made whole again. They play all day long with each other.

There is only one thing missing. They're not with their special someone who loved them on Earth. Each day they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up. The nose twitches , the ears perk up, the eyes are staring and this one pet suddenly runs from the group. You have been seen and when you and your special friend meet, you take him or her in your arms and embrace . Your face is kissed again and again and again and you look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet.

Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together and never again to be seperated.

Yours truly

JOHN A

That was beautiful.

I have another that made me think of you. I hope that it helps comfort you in some small way. May all of your tomorrows be a little less painful then the yesterday before.

No fun crying alone! Losing my kitty gave me some weird new powers. He left them for me. He gave me all his wisdom and kitty intuition, I know he did. Suddenly I can think straight, see straight, talk straight. I got more accomplished this morning than all last month. Mee-owwww. Before my Kitty was only with me at home, but now he's with me all day. He's still here, right here. ^ ^

MOMMY LOVES YOU KITTY MILO :D

When I had to put my beautiful Friend Cuddles to sleep last year the Vets office sent me a card with "The Rainbow Bridge" on it. I have kept it and always will.

They let me know that I made the right decission no matter how HARD it was.

I had him for 15 wonderful years. My sweet doggie baby.

That is such a great poem; saying. We recently lost our 6 year old golden and had to put her down in September. The hardest thong I've ever had to do. I cried off and on for a couple weeks. I am doing better now, but every time I see a picture of her I just remember all the love and companionship she gave to our family.

When I am ready, my mom who is very gifted in the arts and crafts departent is going to help me make an memory box for my son. I think with her passing on and my having surgery he has been scared that something is going to happen to me. She was a good dog and will be missed every time I think of her, or see a picture of her.

Well sorry to bore you with my sob story, but I feel better.

Thanks, Schel

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
