Lisa106678 2 Posted July 13, 2010 Okay gang. . .something weird is going on. I am almost two months post op, had my second fill on 6/23 and will have another next week. I'm able to easily eat a full cup of food at a sitting. So here is the strange problem: Yesterday morning I got up late, so I had a bowl of Special K for Breakfast with skim milk. Then I took my regular meds--blood pressure and anxiety with a few sips of Water. 10 minutes later I start to get the cold sweats and stand over the sink spitting copious amounts of saliva. Just like when you want to throw up and your mouth begins to water. I finally did throw up but just the sips of water that I took, not the breakfast. After that everything seemed fine. I had lunch, and dinner, no problems. I took a sleeping pill last night and woke up at 1:00 am with again a horrible bout of watering mouth and cold sweats. I spit out the saliva, burped a few times, and felt better. When I woke up last night it had been almost 5 hours since I last ate, so it wouldn't have been anything stuck. Any ideas? mondk 0 Posted July 13, 2010 I haven't been banded yet but I read about this in one of my Lap Band books and also my surgeon mentioned this too. I think it may have something to do with taking your pills. My surgeon told me I won't be able to ever take whole pills again; I will either have to open the capsules, crush, or substitute liquid meds after getting banded. What I read in my only band book was that when taking things not chewed well, like pills, your stomach tells the body to make more lubricant to try to push the stuff down, hence the increased saliva. I really think your pills might be getting stuck, if you can crush them (consult your pharmacist prior to this) and put them in either applesauce or pudding and see if that helps. Good luck!
