Okay so I am 7 weeks post op now. I have my old appetite back and have no food restriction (except heavy breads). I can eat whatever I like and also small meals do not fill me AT ALL!!

I know I need a fill, but it may be a couple of weeks before I can get one, as the closest fill centre is a 2 hour ($500 flight) from me and they ONLY do middle of the week (Wednesday) fills.

Anyone else have similar issues, and how did you cope? My wife is giving me grief that I wasted the money havign lapband done, because I can eat like I did before (although I am making healthier choices. I have gained 2 lbs back (did this while on a 2 week vacation).

I am getting a bit fustrated, but I hope the fill will help me out soon!!

You are in bandster hell. Without a fill most of us don't get any help at all from our bands and must rely on will power.

Gaining only 2 pounds on a 2 week vacation is fantastic.

I had to postpone my first fill due to a vacation, so I feel your pain of having to wait. I had my surgery February 15 and did not get a fill until the beginning of May.

Someone who was a veteran when I got my band said that having an empty band is like having a new sports car with an empty gas tank. It looks really pretty, but it is useless sitting in the driveway.

So, did you waste money on a band? How can you tell? Until you have restriction it isn't helping you at all. Anything you might lose right now is from pushing the car. It is all from your own efforts. I don't know about you, but I got the band because my own efforts failed miserably.

I hope you get on the road to fills soon!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
