Ok so does anyone eat Cereal? I know we are all on low carb high Protein diets but I hate starting my day out with a big eggs and bacon type bfast and I also cant stomach a shake 1st thing in the morning. I love to eat bfast, but have always been more of a cereal type gal.

What is the rule if you eat it with just a very small amount of milk?

I just bought a box (for munching) and here are the stats.

Kashi GOLEAN

3/4 cup

190 cals

4g fat

35 carbs

8g Fiber

9g protein

I am trying to end my addiction to carbs but I get up at 6:30am and walk 3 miles @ 7am every day.

I need to have a little something on my stomach b4 I leave the house and also dont have time for cooking. Plus I go b4 my hubby and son wake up so I need a silent meal.

Any thoughts or other Bfast ideas??

Thanx

I eat most my carbs in the AM. I also have golean cereal! Its not the best stuff but its alright. Your Breakfast should consist of carbs and healthy fats. I also dont really live off a "low carb diet" because I dont think its very healthy, but I try to watch my carbs to make sure I am not over doing them.

Another poster got me to try a cereal at Targert made by Archer--"Cinnamon Twist" high protein--has 15 grams of Protein not including the milk and 30grams of carbs

I am more of a "South Beach Diet" person in regards to carbs in that I only eat whole-grain carbs and no white sugars--I try to limit those to breakfast. I eat my carbs last as directed, so I get limited carbs anyway.

I have a bowl of oatmeal in the morning and I put a scoop of unflavored Protein Powder in it. It's about 26 grams of Protein total.

I just brought the Kashi Go Lean, my bix have more Protein in it, if I am not mistaking....plus I have the one that has the strawberry in it...I don't plan on putting milk with mine unless I do the yogurt. I have been on the Activia because my bowels have not been working properly.....

The Archer Farms cinnamon cereal isn't bad...I just can't eat in the AM anymore so it's always Protein Shake for me :grouphug:

I do eat the Kashi GoLean with soy milk...LOVE it..and measure out the cup. It not only has a large amt of Protein, it also has a large amt of fiber! So far I've been able to get it down and usually have it daily.

I just bought Special K Low Fat Granola. It has 6g Protein. Not high protein but it's better than cereal and I'll mix it with yogurt and fruit. Simple and Quick. I get plenty more protein throughout the day.

I like Heritage brand cereal--cold, flakes, a serving (3/4 cup) is 110 calories and 4 grams of Fiber. If you put a half cup of milk in it, it's about 9 grams total, not bad for Breakfast. And you actually get to chew!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
