Feeling like a total failure.

The first and most important thing you can do is to not start being negative toward yourself. The weight loss for Lap-Band surgery is between 1-2 Lbs per week (or a little bit more IF you're lucky).

So...

9 months x 4 weeks = 36. You should have lost at least 36 Lbs. by now. Well guess what, you're right on target because you have lost 37.

Failure is giving up. Are you going to give up? If not, then you have not failed.

Instead, why don't you get more organized with your efforts. Create a workout routine and live breath and die by it. Log your food intake and be completely honest about what you are eating. I go the back way approach. I create an eating schedule. I stick to it as much as possible, and it helps to ensure I'm getting all my proper nutrients.

This is going to take a great deal of patience and perseverence on your part. You have to supply to get it attitude, the workouts and the eating properly. The band will only supply you with eating less. That is all.

Now get up on your feet and welcome a new challenge. All the best!

just a suggestin but if you are throwing up a lot and not able to eat good food then your band is either too tight or you are swollen from all the retching.

You should not be feeling like this.

I TOTALLY understand your frustration. I had my band placed in 11/08 and have only lost 40lbs. I am trying so very hard to lose but to no avail. My physician would not do fills for several weeks and sometimes refuses to give them to me saying that I don't understand the concept of the Lap Band. I totally feel you!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
