First Fill Didn't Work??

Recommended Posts

Need some advice/input from those who are more experienced:

Had surgery in May. After six weeks, got my first fill (3cc's) which lasted not even a week. Now it feels like it did before the fill--like I have no restriction. I feel like I can eat as much as I want--although I'm not--I'm measuring my food and avg. about 1100 cals a day, 60 grams Protein. So food wise I'm doing okay but I'm going on sheer will power at this pt. About four or five hours after I eat, I start to feel hungry and will have a yogurt or cottage, something healthy. I just thought it would be easier at this pt. that I wouldn't even feel like eating. I have another doctor's appt. in four weeks and I'm just wondering if I should wait and be on my own or try to see him before. What's your exp. been.

If you've read any of my other posts, I've mentioned how my brother had this surgery almost a year ago and has never had a fill and he's lost 60 pounds! He still has restriction, much more than I've ever had, we have the same band. So I guess everyone is different. I'd appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

Your brother is a 1%er, your not. (1% never need a fill, 99% do) Get a fill, ASAP, every 3-4 weeks until you have restriction. Good luck.

I agree with Leigha, don't wait call the Dr and move up your appt. Your brother is not the norm most of us need fills and a few of them until we feel the restriction. Good luck on your journey!

You're not gonna have restriction after one fill. It's gonna take a few probably to get to where you want to be. If you can eat as much as you want, you have to learn to stop yourself; self control. Go get another fill and restriction will come soon.

I've only had surgery 2 months ago, but no fill and 45lbs gone. It works different for everyone.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
