Any relief in sight? HELP!

Recommended Posts

I have had my band for almost two years... I have come to terms that dealing with diet, excercise and the LAP-BAND® itself is not all... but facing that it is a matter of having a real and serious eating disorder... I had a fill approx 2 weeks ago, me and the Dr. knew it was going to be a "good fill" and that I would have to be EXTRA careful... well, of course it only takes one blockage or over eating to start the swell... without heeding the "two day liquid only" rule, I have now pushed my self into being so swollen that I can barely/not drink liquids...I am hoping... no actually begging for some advice on how to overcome this without having to go through removing any liquid from my band... I am PB-ing up a storm and it feels like I am over producing phlem or what not..(gross, right?) HELP!!! PLEASE!

If you can't keep fluids down, it's really important to get to your doctor ASAP.

For me, liquid Benadryl and warm liquids can help with swelling---and if I can keep fluids down, my doctor is okay with me holding off on unfill for up to a week or so.

But he doesn't want me to go even 8 hours without adequate Fluid intake. (Perversely, dehydration can make the swelling worse.)

It's been a good while for you--I think it's probably a good idea to give the doc a call.

I agree with Betsy- you should call your doctor. A slight unfill is not the end of the world, doesn't mean you will go back to being hungry. You seem to be too tight for sure, a slight unfill could make all the difference in the world. Good luck and keep us posted on how you are doing.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
