Stalled at i year out help

Recommended Posts

Next week will be a year out for me. I started at 251 and now am at 183, so 67 lbs. I have been stalled out for a couple of months now. I workout almost everynight on the Total Gym about an hour. Twice a week I do the stairs at our high school football stadium that takes about an hour of going up and down stairs.

I have a 10cc band and have 4ccs in it. I got a fill a month ago of .50cc and I was tight the first couple of weeks but now one day I am so tight that I gurgle when I drink and throw up and the next couple of days I can eat just fine and then here comes the tightness again.

But here is the question; How are you still losing at this point of a year out. I know two people who have stopped losing at a year out also. I still want to lose 30 lbs more.

My Dr considers me a sucess and pretty much said I had lost 65% of my excess weight and that is what I was told 50% of excess weight at the time of surgery. He went on to say I might lose 1 -2 lbs a month, yes I said a month here on out.

That just kills me. I want to finish but I am trying and not much is happening.

I might be too tight but I have throw-up a lot since I first got the band and I always have had floro at each office visit to make sure everything in in the right place and working right. I takes only a small amount of fill for me to feel restriction. I never have slimed but I do throw up more than I know I should but like I said I have done that since the beginning. If I have ever gotten stuck it ALWAYS has to come up it NEVER goes down.

So anyone got some suggestions to get things moving. I still eat the same food I ate while I was losing weight and still working out, get my protien and drink all the Water. Any advice? The 3 of us want to hear it. Thanks!!

My reccomendation is to increase your cardio from 2 days a week to 4 or 5 days. That will really speed up weight loss. Also, are you working the same muscles on the total gym every night? If you are, I would stop that for sure. My trainer says muscles need at least 24 hours to recoop before you work them out again. Congrats on what you've done so far and good luck!

I'm not a year out, but do cardio daily---and always will. Weight work is alternate days, unless I work on different muscle groups.

What are you eating? Is the tightness of your band making it easier for higher-calorie sliders to sneak in?

I'd recommend changing your diet...eat more...see if your body is simply used to the workout and diet you've been on. Sometimes? We have to trick our bodies into losing more weight. Without knowing what your caloric intake is, I'd recommend that. I'd also recommend changing up your exercise routine...perhaps work out at different times of the day, or do a different exercise routine. Our bodies just simply get funny and "used" to the workout/diets we're on. What has worked for a year may not be what works anymore.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I am going to run the bleachers at least 4 times a week and do the total gym the other 3 nights. I probably eat less than I should but I do try to stay away from all sliders 99.9% of the time. I am going to try changing everything up because even if the LapBand Dr. says 183lbs is good and I should be happy. My regular Dr would say that is not a healthy weight, but better .

Any and all advice is welcome. I see a lot of people continue to lose after a year and that is what I want!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
