First Fill Scheduled for Monday!

Recommended Posts

Well I'm almost five weeks out and have my second check up as well as my first fill scheduled for Monday December 8th!

I'm going with my band twin who had surgery the day before me...we have to drive about 1.5 hours down to Milwaukee...hopefully we'll feel up to doing some last minute Christmas shopping after.

I'm very excited...not nervous at all thanks to all the calming words I've read on other's posts.

To date I have lost 25lbs on the head...most of the loss was right after surgery when I was much more restricted. Although I've been eating less than pre-surgery I'm hoping my first fill gives me some pretty good restriction!

I have yet to measure myself to see if I've been losing inches, perhaps I'll do that today.

25 pounds. Good for you girl. I'm very interested to know how your first fill goes. Please let us know. My surgery is Dec. 27 in Mexico, but I've made a consultation appt with Dr. Chua for Dec 15 for after care. His office said he does blind fills, which sounds pretty scary and I'm having 2nd thoughts, but I really wanted a doctor close to me in case of a emergency (I'm in Waukesha).

The fill was noting..Okay I won't lie it pinched BAD!

My first fill was under flo so it was not hard for him to hit my port.

I went in took off my top but kept my bra on ..

My doc offered me a shot to num me but I did not want to have a shot then do the fill. One needle a day is fine for me! I just wanted to get it over with.

I layed flat on the table then he put that red crap that cleans the area on my belly. Pushed in pretty hard then stuck me. Funny I was doing my yoga. I'm one with the Ocean then he stuck me and I said screw the Ocean. We both got a giggle out of that! I was affraid to breath and he had to remind me a couple of times to take a breath. He then raised the table and me to standing. I drank that yummy berry junk..UCK! I was such a goof ball I was not moving since the needle was still in me I ended up spilling that juice all down me.

Anyways, I drank he filled and I got 1.5cc. He pulled the needle out and I was done!

I was maybe back there 8mins?

The nurse helper gave me a wash cloth to wash my belly and I got a bandaid for my little pin hole prick. I saw no blood!

I got dressed and went shopping!

GOOD LUCK! I'm sure you both will do fine.

Well it's over and done and I have 2cc's.

They froze it and I didn't feel a thing. I made the mistake of watching my band sister get one first and that freaked me out but it was all over in a matter of a minute or two!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
