Favorite Go-To Foods?

Recommended Posts

So I'm having a hard time being creative and I don't ever know what to eat now that I'm off mushies. I am a carb addict so I'm running out of things to eat other than chicken. Any suggestions? What's your "go-to" meal that you eat all the time or whenever you can't decide what to eat?

Someone please help and recommend some good things I can eat all the time!

Thanks in advance.

Well I don't mind chicken every day, but plain, flavorles chicken gets old. How do you eat it?

Oh and thanks no I haven't heard of that website I'll check it out.

String cheese is one of my faves. A girl in my support group this morning gave out a recipe that I might try.

1 Jello cup

1 greek yogurt cup (Dannon or Yoplait)

1 scoop Protein powder (use a fruity one, or an unflavored)

Tiny bit of diet big red or diet sprite

I dont drink cokes anymore, so I might try it with ice. Just blend it all together.

I also am in love with sugar free Fudgesicles from the Schwan Man!

I've been eating canned white tuna and canned white chicken breast ( both packed in water) Sometimes i add a small spoonful of mayo to make it a little moist.

I'll wrap it up in a lettuce leaf, or eat it with a few rye crackers.

I love it!

My go to foods are string cheese and roasted vanilla bean almonds. If I am able to sit down and chill for a few, I like to snack on Laughing Cow Light Cheese and Triscuits.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
