Question for the ladies...

After you get the band does it help with the horrible hunger that comes with your period? I would assume it would help since your stomach will hold less.

Just curious:) I've had my tubes tied and uterine ablation so I don't exactly get a period but I still get all the lovely PMS.

Unfortunetaly I still get my salt craving during the ovulation time but while I am actually having my period I could careless if I eat whereas before I would eat every sweet in the house. So for me it is 50/50. At first my cramps were worse as well. So glad you have made the decision to become a bandster..it will be the best decision you will have ever made!! I wish you the very best on your journey!!

No you will still get cravings, i normally get them a week before my period. And the foods you crave normally go down pretty easy, even with restriction so you have to have a lot of self control. I have found I can't have the food in the house, because if it is here I eat it. So right before my period I might buy some mini bags of m&m's and have 2 a day to get the chocolate urge out.

Unfortunately that has not been the case for me either, in fact I think its even worse since surgery

I had the tube tie and ablation surgery a couple of years ago so I know what you mean about the periods. Every 3-4 months I might have a "real" one but mostly just a little spotting around that time.

I don't get PMS but I do retain a lot of Water around that time and get intense cravings for cashews!

I'm not hungry the week I get my period, but the week before I want to eat everything in sight. For some reason, the band is looser right before my period and I can eat almost twice as much as normal. I always think I need a new fill right then, then I get my period and the band tightens and I can barely eat anything for a few days. It's really strange, but I've gotten used to it. In fact, I think the combination of eating more, then eating much less makes me lose a few pounds. I guess it could be Water, but it always stays off.

I just asked my nutritionist this very question a few days ago!! :cursing:

I told her that 3-4 days before my period starts, I want to (and can) eat anything and everything. :scared2: She told me that the hunger is due to a release of hormones right before the start of your period that triggers an immense craving for carbs and the lack of feeling satiated. I have also noticed that the day I start, my band is unusually tight...WTH!!!

So, now I have the crazy hunger to fight as well as dealing with the bloating, sore boobs, fatigue, and cramps. AINT BEING A WOMAN GRAND?!?

I had ablation myself, and also have my tubes tied, but as with you I still get PMS and all the joys that come with it... I am only 13 days post op so I cant answer your question BUT will be interested to see what others have to say.... just wanted you to know, I know what you are talking about....Good Luck...

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
